And then there'll be a totally-unforced IDW tie-in comic that reveals that he was the original Seeker, that all the other strike jets modelled themselves after. Or something. The Joe Colton of the attack planes, if you will. Although I'd rather not.

Tis one of those questions though. Visually similar characters are a mainstay of the story, but there has to be a reason in the fiction why there are quite so many jets that look alike.

And I have now Nemesis and Optimus. So my DIY G2 Optimus is complete.
Also now have Elita (whom I like a bit better than arcee), Bumblebee, and Soundwave.
Elita and Bee I found in store before Walmart fulfilled my preorders. And cheaper.

Okay so. Bumblebee is immediately like favorite version of this mold, and easily the top two best updates of g1 bumblebee.
My only disappointment is he can't do something the sedan version can. Cliffcapbite can have the rear end turned upside down on it's back and imitate the throttlebot hood. Bumblebee can't really do that (well, he can. But it looks terrible).
Soundwave is as close to perfect as it can get.
Kinda crappy that it's an exclusive (I think he and Bumblebee were planned for Earthrise, but were slotted for the cancelled waves). So I hope it gets a few reissues and repaints so anyone who wants it can get it without much hassle.
And after that? I hope this fandom can finally move on from Soundwave as a Cassette Player.
Don't really have much to say about Optimus. Love the mold. Love the colors.

This is probably the only way I'd re-buy that Siege Megatron (as per my above post), if this is the set that has the black helmet, as well as that clear purple Paleotrex. Actually going to hold off on buying a standard Paleotrex for now, until we know more about the set, because I'd rather have a clear purple one than the standard one. A risk, of course, but if I end up with no Paleotrex then so be it... |
