Might need to have Megatron and Hotlink for the Targetmasters.
That Lioniser repaint is much closer to what we should have had all along

OH COME THE FUCK ON! They finally give us a properly colored lionizer, and it's an exclusive stuck with the most worthless megatron repaint yet???

Post by Toph on Feb 22, 2020 8:20:28 GMT
In that glut of exclusives, lionizer is the only thing I want.
And if I have to absorb another version of a redundant mold to get it, with a targetmaster that's identical to another one, in order to get it, then screw them.
And are they trying to make us buy a $50+ Siege Magnus repaint sight unseen?

Yup! Apparently the contents are considered a cartoon spoiler...... Please be Delta Magnus Also someone has translated the box and says there's a "Battlefield Rung" in there. One for Llama God then.

Wow, this is one massive mixed bag, isn't it? First, those Wal-Mart exclusives - what's the point of those? Did Hasbro not get enough re-uses out of those molds with the Selects series releases? This means that there's going to be two very similar versions of Megatron on the shelves at the same time as well. It's... baffling. This is one of those days where there's so much going on it's hard to process it all, which sets off those collector alarm bells about missing bits or not being able to process it all into some sort of sense. The Walmart stuff looks like what B&M do here with the Doctor Who figures - straight repaints churned out cheap for low margin profits. However in the case of Doctor Who, they use moulds that have been out of circulation for a good while, but I see here Hasbro have basically said, these moulds are still on the production line - you can have some cheap random colour repaints to knock out if you like cos you know the fans will lap them up. But, umm, I don't think we will. As Phil says, the only interest here is the sets with the Battlemasters in. So Megatron has the red and black one of Pinpointer/Peacemaker that isn't the one with the Alpha Strike Sideswipe set, but who are the two light blue ones with Hotlink? Just random recolours? I may have to get Hotlink just to go with the Cybertron Tetrajet team. Even though he's one of the four from the pilot episode and not the Rainmakers. And will stand out a mile as he has some paint on him. Did Hasbro not listen to the reaction to the battle damage? 'Here, you hated it last time, so here's Sideswipe and Hound again with slightly MORE battle damage! Yeah! You know you love it!'

Are there any pictures of this new Ultra Magnus? Is it a repaint of last years or the CW one?

It has to be in the show. So it'll probably just be like the Sideswipe/Chromia/Hound trio.

Indeed. The anime clip showed Magnus, it's like the others in that set - same Siege Magnus but with even more battle damage. The description above mentions that. 23 paint apps.

At least this solves the 'which red and black Targetmaster is which' problem. So Pinpointer has been abducted by Megatron, therefore Trenchfoot has to be Peacemaker. And the two with Hotlink are supposed to represent his flamethrower.
The metallic sheen on that Megatron will make that figure look awesome. I might go with that one as my G1 Megatron. I think this new Earthrise one is bound to get a green Selects version this time. It can only be why the last one was purple. That'll be the version of the new mould I go for.

I might get Mirage and Scrapface(?). Mirage's renders did it no favors. It actually looks nice irl.
What struck me, is that these are all walmart exclusives. Most of these molds (all except mirage) are clogging up the shelf spaces here, making it harder to find anything new. Then the Walmarts that got the Siege 35th figures folded those shelfwarmers edging out EVERYTHING.
So over here a year later, once we finally get rid of all the damn Sideswipes, Hounds, Chromias, and Megatrons, here come those same characters in the same molds, in basically the same decoes, to reclog the shelves.

I wanna know will they show off Magnus, or is this toy's only gimmick for you to spend $60 bucks and not know what you get until you get it?
What about those of us who don't care about a show that's looking to be only slightly better than Combiner Wars, and want to know if we want to buy a dang toy?
What, he gets a cloak accessory?

So all we know about Magnus is that it’s a spoiler for the show and he has _more_ battle damage paint apps than before.
Is he going to be pulling a Prime Cliffjumper on us maybe?

That's quite a surprise to see those suddenly appear on Smyths. Voyagers though and not the deluxes. Makes sense if you're a buyer, given the originals of those will be on shelves still. At least the voyager packs offer the targetmasters and Hotlink is a new repaint.
I'm quite keen to see those two. Nice the chance is there to do it in hand.

Yup. Megatron will shelfwarm. Might pre-order Hotlink. I can see that selling: new character and a seeker so that may be harder to find in the wild.
I could be tempted by Magnus if the deco is good but I'm not spending £50 ahead of time sight unseen! Idiotic move from Hasbro there. If it was a Diaclone repaint I'd be in there like a shot!

I started to formulate an idea/theory about it, based on scenes from the trailer, before I realized I don't actually care. But here's the halfassed theory anyway. SPOILEREDED SO HASBRO DON'T SUE ME!!!! Are you ready? Here it comes! It's a black repaint because he becomes Nemesis Prime!!!! OMG OMG OMG WHO SAW THAT COMING???

I wonder if this Netflix line exists as the Siege cartoon is so late it has missed the line. This way there are Siege moulds out at retail that match the show models when the series drops and more casual fans who don't follow the lines closely watch the show and want toys of them so they toddle off to Walmart?
