I'll bet this is the Siege Ultra Magnus cab in red, this time sans remoulding seen on Galaxy Upgrade Prime, with a new trailer that has the Omega Supreme/Astrotrain connectors on it's base mode. I'd forgotten that Magnus' cab has the sloped RID front. So new straight front on the Op. That'd sweeten the deal slightly.

Or it's Siege Optimus retooled to look more G1, with an added trailer. There's precident in the Studio Series line.
More likely is the Armada Optimus that you'd already theorized was for WfCII 2

If we didn't just get the near perfect voyager G1 optimus in Siege, the perfect voyager g1 optimus in Studio Series, and the third perfect MP G1 optimus in Masterpiece, Then getting the perfect Voyager scaled G1 optimus with a trailer would be far more exciting.

I could be tempted by that Prime. I think my most recent Prime is G2 Laser Rod.

Please please PLEASE LET THIS BE THE LAST G1 PRIME FOR A LONG TIME
In the last two or three years- -PotP Optimus -Studio Series Bumblebee Optimus -Various versions of AoE Evasion Optimus -Siege Optimus -a third G1 MP Optimus -several Cyberverse Optimi. -Star Convoy which is G1 Optimus in a Star Convoy costume
Add to that the adjacent two versions of TR PMOP Optimus, and CW Optimus.
Point being this is the third homage to this design in Generations in a row. Please retool Siege Sideswipe into Gobot Optimus, or give us a deluxe Alternators homage. There's a perfectly fantastic Armada Optimus laying around somewhere! Or give us a full update of Energon!
But please, we finally have the Super Ultimate Hyper Accurate Optimus we asked for 20 years ago, we have the vaguely cybertronian version. We have the meched out ultra detailed version. We have the "it stepped off the cartoon" version. So let him rest after this!
(Bare in mind this is not a criticism of the actual toy, which looks amazing, but a criticism of the philosophy of the designers behind it)

Please please PLEASE LET THIS BE THE LAST G1 PRIME FOR A LONG TIME HERESY! As a devout Optimus Prime fan... ...I completely agree with you. Their philosophy is... questionable, to be sure. I still wish that the Cybertron Prime had been the War Within/Chaos-era design, or at the very least the box-on-wheels from Marvel #1. *Something* different. *That* said, that trailer has made me want that Prime anyway. Because of course it fucking has. Even though BB Prime is the *perfect* update of G1 Prime in my mind, there's something about seeing that trailer like that. Also I'm an idiot, so you know. Because aside from that trailer, there really is no reason at all for this figure to exist. That makes me really angry about Siege Optimus. They KNEW this one was coming. They may not have had designs yet, but they certainly had it planned. There is zero reason Siege Optimus couldn't have had a genuine Cybertronian design. In MTMTE he never transformed, and he had his earth truck robot mode design. Which means Earthrise is just as MTMTE accurate as Siege. They could have given us a WWI Optimus (finally!), or an IDW preearth Optimus. Or even updated the original WfC design. Or god forbid create a NEW design!

While I absolutely love the TR Laserrod Optimus, I wouldn't turn down a leader class Laserrod Optimus, with a voyager class cab robot, similar to RtS but better, with a weaponizer trailer that assembles into a base and armor

Glad this was revealed before I was tempted by the cel shaded Walmart one.
May be tempted to sell on Seige Prime actually, looks like the new one is a superior remould and without a real cybertronian mode doesnt leave me much use for the seige one.

Just thought, the photos show Prime is as tall as his trailer is long. That's going to make it quite stumpy isn't it?

For me it's specifically about this exact Optimus design. The 1984 design. For literal decades, between 91's actionmaster, until...well, pretty much until CW, if you wanted an update of this specific design your choices were Masterpiece 1, Classics Deluxe, Robot Master, Hybrid, and MP10. As great a toy as it is, even Classics Voyager qualifies as a redesign.
For all that time we were begging and begging for basically Earthrise Optimus exactly. But then, starting with PotP, this is the only optimus design they acknowledged, it seems. Cyberverse is 84 design. Bumblebee (movie) is 84 design. Star Convoy uses PotP which is already 84 design, only is even more 84 than it already was. Our fifth MP Optimus is the third 84 optimus in that line. (Primal and Movie being the other two)
We finally get the toy I would have slaughtered everyone for in the nineties. The toy I would have openly wept over if they had shown it as Classics at botcon 2005. The toy I lamented over and over "it's such a simple concept why wont they make it?!?" But now after the last two years I am so burnt out of this specific optimus design that when they finally are making it, my only feeling was "another one?"
It isn't that we've had a glut of Optimi in the past five years, it's that almost all of it has been some version of 1984 Optimus, even when it doesn't need to be like Cyberverse or Siege. I mean... Even the Siege Galaxy Optimus is more 84 than it is Cybertron.

All that aside, I wonder where in the pit ER Op's front wheels go.
Edit: I see now. They're attached to the bumper on his back kibble.

New Prime looks nice but robot mode is so similar to the Siege voyager that I am not sure if I want this new one.
Poor Kapow will be sitting on loads of the cel shaded Prime's now!

The new one isn't a remold, and I can't even see and shared parts. The legs and feet look nearly identical, but there are engineering inconsistencies that require them being completely new parts.

Okay, now that I'm passed the initial disappointment of another ultra faithful g1 optimus hot on the heels of a mega faithful g1 optimus, I'm starting to appreciate the toy on it's own deserved merits.
And like I mentioned, it is very nearly everything I ever wanted (would rather he combine with his trailer Powermaster style than have a completely faithful diaclone trailer). I'm kinda getting the excitement I should have felt immediately were it not for G1 Prime fatigue.

To be fair though, there's been two goes at combining with trailers in recent lines (TR and POTP) albeit neither a complete success or faithful PM Op upgrade.
Whereas the Combat Deck hasn't been done at all in Generations so was due if anything was. As more of Earthrise has been revealed we can see the base modes are in and the combat deck fits in with that, complete with connector on the trailer's ramp.
It was pointed out to me yesterday that the trailer's ramp contains the shield. Points for storing that well.
Should be some more reeals today in about 10 hours time.

As Roller is missing from the new Prime, I wonder if he'll be sold separately with a robot mode/weaponisers ala Sixgun and Co.

Typical box trailers are around 40' Though some are distinctly shorter, and others can be 50', even 60'
There is no way on earth a cab like optimus would be a 40' tall robot. So this trailer is indisputably short. Unlike many, Optimus is an easy TF to scale. If you can get the proportions of a real truck as close to his model as possible, then his height will be the length of the entire truck, plus the height of his cab.
And mass shifting has no say here because a toy cannot grow in size. Optimus' proportions are governed by whatever size the toy is made in.
Which also means supermode Powermaster Optimus is a bit over 40' tall.

More to the point, why is the trailer not a modular base full of wonderment and excitement to fit with the rest of the line?

More to the point, why is the trailer not a modular base full of wonderment and excitement to fit with the rest of the line? Astrotrain - who is believed to have been brought forward from Earthrise - has a tender that behaves in a similar way to Prime's trailer by folading out to become a base.

So the trailer has been sized 'economically' to fit the combat deck and one deluxe car.
