I think it's because he's a carnivorous skeleton, and similarities to skeletor is coincidental but may have been one of the deciding factors (beyond trademarkability)

So Megs has different chest scratches from the previous Netflix Megs and blue instead of red in the tank gun and...and...um...this is taking the piss.

Different chest marks and brighter urinal backsplatter are the only differences.
If I had gotten the older version I would be pissed.
As it was, I couldn't justify buying that one for the correctly colored lionizer.

Since I don't have any version of ER Megatron, and I certainly like the look of Mr. ne Deluxe, so this is still a set that interests me - just not for that price.

I'd look more favorably on both siege and er versions of the mold if they didn't have the stupidly awkward swords.

Netflix Deluxe w3 arrived Tuesday.
If I said the worst one is Cheetor and he's merely miles better than his retail release, you'll get an idea of how much I like them in hand!
Deeseus's Soldier (Ironhide) and Sparkless Bot (Barricade) are both interesting new decos. I'd have preferred a Protect Black Ironhide in colours similar to this but he feels close enough with some interesting touches, the green eyes and missiles tips in the axe. Sparkless Bot is clever.
Star of the show is Blue Deep Cover. Gorgeous. First Siege Sideswipe to majorly deviate from white with the arms & upper legs, if you see grey as majorly, but it looks so so nice and easily repurposed as a new character.
You'll want all four.
No bonus ala Ark backgrounds this time :-(

Cheetor will be mine because Cheetah. And Deep Blue will be mine to either be a new character or G2 Deep Cover (thanks for that observation!)
I'll probably pass on the others.

Thought I might finally get a chance to get to a Smyths today. Naturally Glasgow does not have a Cheetor in stock. Not going to be too disheartened, though - whilst all the other Scottish stores appear to have one in, they also only have one in, and this exact same thing happened with Bumblebee, so hopefully as they get closer to opening up again more stock will appear.

Nice. This and Hotlink are the best decos this mould has had. Lovely picture of the two tetrajets together in that set but seems to be one of those sites where you can't link to images direct.

Okay so Cheetor is a big improvement over the already impressive Kingdom Cheetor.
I get that the cheetah mode was the focal point this time, which is why he lacks blue on his legs. But i don't get why they dropped it on his tail blade, which isn't exposed.
Or why they didn't add some color to his forearms to compensate.
Also, Deep Cover being cast in grey but painted blue is a pointlessly stupid decision. Just cast him in blue in the first place!
Also, he looks really good with a G2 symbol and g2 style gun.

My friend told me it's believed that the paint budget for netflix isn't figure by figure, but spread out across the wave. So when one figure gets a premium deco, another one loses out.
So Cheetor loses paint apps so they could cast Deep Cover in the wrong color and paint him blue.
