It's got parts reuse, but is largely new. It also has to have different engineering because Cheetor's chest is faux kibble, while the real beast head gets tucked away inside his torso, but Tigatron's beast head becomes the chest.

Yeah, I like the look of that Cheetor. Sure, his chest isn't quite the right shape, but as someone that hates faux kibble I'm happy with that.

I was going to comment on it being a shame that the blue isn't more metallic, but then decided not to. And then I wondered if maybe that was going to come later, in a W*NC release. Now I'm making myself doubt and put off any possible Kingdom purchases! Great work, me...

Love his face. Chest doesn't bother me. The show tucking the cheetah head down like Sideswipe instead of it pointing forward like the toy's intended homage to Prowl was what was wrong. The shade of blue is fine to me, too.
However there are two things that do bother me. He needs blue on his forearms. Also the way the cheetah legs fold into the front of his legs instead of the back bothers me.

That is a VERY nice cheetah mode, especially for the price point. Might even prefer it to the Masterpiece...

With his legs being able to do that, I actually am wondering now if he has a Beast Machines pretool, or if that's just coincidental. Either way, it offers an alternate robot mode configuration for Shadow Panther.
Which makes me wonder a few things- Cheetor is insanely and beautifully faithful to the real life animal. Shadow Panther is a mainline release instead of Selects, this makes me wonder if SP is a retool. Cheetor is very accurate, and Blackarachnia seems to prioritize the real animal over cartoon accuracy, too. And Tigatron is an entirely different mold (thank god!). Cheetahs don't come in melonistic flavor. Their recessive gene gives them stripes. So I wonder if SP isn't retooled to be a jaguar or leopard.
All of this also brings into question Dinobot and Megatron. I had up until now fully accepted total cartoon accuracy like the MPs. But at the same time given how regressive and this fandom is about their damn retrosaurs (this fandom won't even allow the dinobots to not drag their damn tails), I can't see hasbro being able to get away with an accurate Utahraptor for Dinobot. So...maybe a nineties style protofeather/scaley hybrid raptor?

I can see the Transmetal weapon now I look closely..... Cheetor I'm struggling with, love the original and I've struggled with all bar one of the Cheetors post BW. Feels too tall and stretched out, especially with how the head ends up high on the chest The beast mode is *nearly* OK but the blue bits ticking out the shoulders just look out of place. They *COULD* be 5mm sockets but I'm not sure and even then they'd still look odd Ah It's mistransformed in the above picture and looks MUCH better done right

Point of order: Shouldn't these leaked images be in the leaked images thread for now?

...I no longer want a Tarantulas. I am fine with there being no Kingdom Tarantulas. If there must be one, please skip the original and go directly to Transmetal. I also wish her spider legs had been yellow. Not for show accuracy but to steer her away from the realism. I've concluded now seeing this, that's why MP BA doesn't trigger my arachnophobia. And this thing is getting really close to doing that.

Point of order: Shouldn't these leaked images be in the leaked images thread for now? Possibly, but EVERYTHING Kingdom toyline is leaks, speculation and rumours at the moment. It ALL goes here till Hasbro announces the toyline and Phil does some very clever stuff

At THAT point we may as well just go ahead and start a new thread.

There is quite a difference between knowing the broad theme or a list of characters and seeing pictures and reviews of the actual toys that have been flinched many months ahead of reveal.

To be absolutely pedantic - we have seen toys of characters, none of them in any packaging to say what toyline they actually belong to, so they are perfectly at home in the speculation and rumour thread.

It's quite impressive how that Blackarachnia looks like a scaled down version of the Masterpiece - given the price difference between those two, the Deluxe holds up really well. I'm still not sure I would swap it out for the Legends one though. That just looks a little more stylish.

And this thing is getting really close to doing that. And this is exactly why I am LOVING that figure. (For triggering my own arachnophobia, that is, not for yours. I don't take pleasure in the suffering of others. Well. Not much.) It reminds me of the realistic, creepy bug toys that used to be around when I was a kid - and which may well still be. I got given a rubber tarantula when I was seven or eight so I put it in my dad's dressing gown... I'm sure I would've ended up in a work house if that had been an option. But yes - this looks really good. Looking forward to reveals of the others now. Especially Dinobot and Megatron. Although I fear that, rather than animal kingdom accuracy, they're more likely to go with public perception accuracy. Because they'll sell more if they look like they're from Jurassic Park...

...and I want them to look like non-realistic JP type dinos as that is what the characters look like.
Will pass on BA. Looks too much like a real spider. Though I've never been a big BW toy fan anyway. Loved the show.

But why have they gone with that chest design? It's overly visible in alt-mode, surely they could have sacrificed some BW show accuracy in favour of a better alt-mode and also benefit from the daft that such physical features are a little out of place on a transforming robot character in the first place.

I don't personally mind Jurassic Park accuracy as much as I do Jurassic World accuracy. JP made an honest attempt to do justice to the real animals, with a dash artistic flare and imaginative speculation. In fact they said multiple times across all three "these aren't monsters. They're just animals." (Where are JW just went full movie monsters. Not a single one even behaved like an animal would) So while extremely dated, it's not as bad as the broken spines that the G1 dinobots only get.
But my expectations are about the same as yours. Like I said, I'll be pleased if they went with the common nineties half scaled/half feathered that raptors used to get back then (and is just now starting to work it's way into pop culture)
But if they end up looking like they're from the fifties, I will be declaring nuclear war on hasbro.

I was surprised by that. Can only be show accuracy. Female characters in Marvel Legends tend to have pronounced chests when the comic images they're produced from are the same, to the point you look at them and think, really? But this really does feel a bit out of place these days on what is supposed to be a child's toy.

She's mistransformed in most of it. You can't see her chest at all in the picture I used in my earlier post.
