That's an awful lot of retooling to look exactly the same. Sure the sculpted detail is different, a vent here, a bit of gribble there, but otherwise it's exactly the same.
This is a depressing set. A boinked up Grimlock that they couldn't bother to match the deco on the fake beast head to the deco on the real one, and a BS retool of the most BS seige mold of all.

Ummmmm..... I think Siege Mirage is better. Pumps more. Earthy too plain.
Obvs we need a toy accurate 3P head for both versions, but body-wise... SIEGE RULES.

Huuuuuh. Surprised myself in how little I like that Tracks in hand.... Huh. Edit: and it's nothing to do with the yellow square of doom.

I've got my Siege Mirage out to compare and I think there's very little carried over from the Siege. Wheels & Hands from the black frame, feet, the bar connecting the lower leg to knee the weapons & lower part of the upper arm from the grey frame and *possibly* the head & waist from the blue frame. The rest, all new. The shoulders and rear of the car Transform totally differently and, slightly worryingly, it looks like the shoulder holes for the launcher might be gone - he's holding it in every picture.
So it's a bit more work than just retooling it, but the end effect is the same: essentially this looks the same toy.
The nose looks like it could use some colour, silver or blue, it fades into the white background photos.

Note the white wings to the right of the picture: the rumoured BWII Skywarp/Magnaboss team member Silverbolt. And the green chap with the wings, surprisingly in one piece, to the rear of he picture.

And our first use of the "Battle Across Time Collection" name, rumoured to be on some other packs too

The wing is something. But the background cameos aren't particularly significant aside from adding atmosphere. Waspinator, Scorponok, and Dinobot all appeared on Blackarachnia's package art.

I don't understand why Grimlock doesn't have his original, spotty deco, especially given that the blurb on the Pulse website states that it is "inspired by" Beast Wars: Uprising, which... also featured his spotty deco. Weird, but here we are.
All the same, I'm going to end up getting this. As I've said before, the conjunx is after a Mirage but we'd never picked up the Siege one because I wasn't particularly impressed by the mold, and I've just always wanted Beast Wars Grimlock. So... here we are.
The question now, is: How long until they release a Mirage with the toy head, and Grimlock as Dinobot in original toy colours..?

Mirage is indeed just like Megatron's Siege and ER forms in that initially they look exactly the same but actually have loads of differences...but look exactly the same.
Set is an easy pass for me!

The question now, is: How long until they release a Mirage with the toy head, and Grimlock as Dinobot in original toy colours..? Clear Siege Mirage has the toy head, so it exists. Whether that's on a frame carried over to Kingdom Mirage is debatable. I spent ages looking at the Siege toy and Kingdom pictures trying to decide if the heads were the same last n ight but the blue rather soaks up the detail.

Similar, but I'm going to say not identical. He has a slightly different expression, and I think the detail on the front of the mohawk bit is slightly different, too.

Just catching up with this... Siege Mirage actually looks kind of better? Certainly the vehicle mode is more earth-like, but the lack of a shoulder mount is almost a showstopper.
Grimlock looks ok, but that photoshopped fake had a more appealing scheme.
What an odd release.

I think I saw someone on Twitter point out that there’s no 5mm hole on the top of his shoulder and neither photos nor art show it shoulder mounted. Though to be fair I don’t think there’s a high enough angle shot to completely rule it out.

It might have been! If anyone’s paying attention to the mm...
Having looked on Amazon I think one photo is high angle enough to show there are no 5mm ports there, so if it attaches it has to be by some other means.
If true it makes the whole extensive re-engineering of the siege mould even odder, in a line notoriously slavish to Sunbow.

Yeah, it doesn't look good, but there's not enough evidence to conclusively rule it out. I mean, if we never saw a picture at this point of Sideswipe with his cannon mounted on his shoulder, we wouldn't think it possible with him, either.
But if he can't, that's a really bad decision, like not making ER Megs be able to mount his cannon on his shoulder when supposedly the whole point was the G2 repaint.

I'm sure I saw someone post a picture of what could be a very shallow 5mm port on his shoulder. I guess we'll find out whenever this thing ships. Or some leakers become desperate for clout. Whatever happens first.

Re: Mirage. I was thinking. There's so much remoulding in that, they'll probably want to use it again as a Selects release. So which repaint will it be? Siege Mirage hasn't been used to do any of the old colour schemes bar the clear blue one. I don't want this one, but I'd be down for a G2 green & pink/Crasher two pack.
