I watched the first episode. Now I can see why a lot of american's hold the Sunbow TF cartoon in high regard. It is light years beyond this in terms of pace and energy and that theme tune is the drizzling shits. It picks up once it gets into the main series, as production of the two ran neck-and-neck for the big run to 65, apart from those first five episodes. The first mini, being produced the year before, was still somewhat transitional between what US cartoons had been in the 70s and what they would become in the 80s. Similar deal with the theme song. That had been created for the initial toyline pitch back in 1981. One thing the DiC cartoon got right was to have a new theme with some actual energy to it. But like most DiC shows, once you're past the intro it's all downhill from there.

Another batch of episodes now up on YouTube. The Arise Serpentor five parter and several two part stories, including the Prisoner inspired There's No Place Like Springfield.

I gave up on the earlier episodes: they didn't grab me at all. I will watch ARISE SERPENTOR as the ad for the video for that in loads of comics back in the day was imprinted on my mind so I've always wanted to see it.

Arise, Serpentor, Arise is the weakest of the bunch, mainly on account of recycling the same plot for the fourth time. The other ten episodes are The Synthoid Conspiracy part 1 and 2 Worlds Without End part 1 and 2 Captives Of Cobra part 1 and 2 The Traitor part 1 and 2 There's No Place Like Springfield part 1 and 2 By the way, I've gone and checked. The ending to Springfield is the edited version, unfortunately.

Well I just switched on and Cobra had kidnapped military dudes and dumped them in front of TV screens with collars on their heads. Looked like a conference call.

I think the stream is only showing the full episodes that have been uploaded to the channel separately

I tried again but I just can't cope with Wild Bill not having a Hull accent.

I've been dipping in and out of Hasbro's stream. The villains are fun but overall the show lacks a certain something. I prefer the comics.

I tried watching the stream, having never watched the cartoon before. Made it through the first part of "Arise, Serpentor" before giving up. I just couldn't do it.
The barely intelligible Sgt. Slaughter was a hoot though.

I quite enjoy Arise Surpentor. I do not however, enjoy seeing it without the UK intro.

Yes, the US theme tune kills any joy.

Currently up to 50 out of 95 (or 100 if the syndication edits of the movie count). Couple of weeks ago they started uploading the earliest episodes of the main series The 3rd Friedman miniseries being written and produced late, but aired first.
Even though this style of writing was completely new and these writers who had followed Steve Gerber from the land of network shows were still adjusting. You can tell just how far ahead of Friedman they were in terms of pacing and dialogue.
01 Cobra's Creatures - Kimmer Ringwald
02 Countdown For Zartan - Christy Marx
No episode 3
04 Cobra Soundwaves - Ted Pedersen
05 Cobra Stops The World - Steve Gerber
06 Jungle Trap - Paul Dini
