Going to try and do this with my laptop. I chickened out of the other zoom meeting I was going to do, so I haven't actually tested the microphone/video stuff. Do you have to use headphones for this? if you're using the native speakers does that get picked up by the mic and turn into one of those horrible screechy feedback loops?

I use the built-in mic and speakers and mute the mic when I'm not talking to avoid feedback / background noise.

Really enjoyed meeting up although I had to depart early. We should definitely do it again.

But surely the technology hasn't been so readily available for long before now? It's amazing that human civilisation has existed for thousands of years, and we invent the Internet and Zoom just in time for a global pandemic that forces us to self-isolate. Think how different the lockdown would have been thirty years ago. (Heck, most of my colleagues only got their first work laptops last year. Whoever made that decision deserves a massive bonus.) I think the only person I had real trouble hearing was Nick, and Andu was a tad faint. |

I'm quite impressed that I've never used the camera or the mic on my laptop yet Zoom managed both without any problems. It just worked.
If only I could say the same for my bloody printer.
