Will need to see a bit more than that. The van mode for a start. The robot is going to have to go some to beat the Earthrise one.

Legs look a little similar to the Earthrise one, so maybe it's a reuse/mold?

All Arnhaade (and Ratchet) toys that are going for cartoon acuracy always look too 'wide' to me. The cartoon proportions were quite slim (apart from the beer belly). Of course, the best way to achieve this is to just include the sleds and also add some play value. I will never understand why they don't do this obvious thing.
Yes, they were rarely seen in the cartoon and comics, but neither was Primes trailer/battle station in transformations.

Oh they would... they WOULD.
Still, I mean, it looks like the Earthrise Ironhide that we should have had. I wonder if they'll make him and his inevitable Ratchet repaint impossible to get, too?
Personally, I'm happy with the SS Bumblebee mold, so I think I'll not bother with this. Because surely we're due for another few iterations of the Sunbow model over the next few years..?

I don't know why they need extra molding for battle damage parts - especially for Ironhide. He actually requires fewer parts, surely...

Ironhide's vehicle mode doesn't look too bad. I'm keen to see what Ratchet's will look like now. And which store he's going to be an exclusive for.
And I meant to mention it above, but Bludgeon's going to be a retooling of Tarn, isn't he?

I see. I do like the robust chunky feel of the Earthrise one it has to be said. I'm not sure I need the whole 84 crew to be quite so sunbow. The two great hinges on the side of the van mode don't help it either, although one of those is the same as the ER version.
Wait a minute, wasn't this Ironhide down as being a voyager? Or was that ratchet? What's this coming with to warrant that?

It won't, of course, be his battle sled.

Nah, I think it'll just be that this is the new Voyager standard. I say, cynically. I really hope I'm not right.
But aye, he's probably as close as you'll get to being Sunbow accurate at this scale, so I guess that's good if you're in to this sort of thing. I'd say they can probably go in a different direction now, but I'm sure there'll be at least three or four attempts to get him even more Sunbow before the decade's out... My main concern really is the amount of clear plastic used to make up the top of the van. It feels me with fear...

You say that, but clear plastic or plastic that yellows out the box? Not a good time QC wise coming up!

Just give him the sled! You then have less van kibble to worry about when making the simple plain sunbow robot. No need for ugly hinges or jigsaw puzzle lines all over the vehicle.
And the toy can then have his windscreen slide up over his face so you can stand him on said sled for a wonderful third mode and added play value for the price a Voyager.
Optimus gets his battle platform.
Rodimus gets his battle platform.
Heck, even Motormaster gets one that isn't even warranted and no one (meaning I) even wanted.
I will now not mention sleds again for a bit.
Bit I love the sleds. And I love the original toys. That had sleds.

It's a decent looking Ironhide to be sure, but I don't think it offers much more the Earthrise one. A sled would have really changed the game. A sled would make making an Ironhide/Ratchet mold so simple. I can't believe they don't use the sled, especially as it was in Sunbow (trying to steal the scene from Hauler).

This is Studio Series, though. And Ironhide transforms without use of a sled in the Movie.
