Wow! That Kup is a dead ringer for the Fanstoys version! (I thought that's what it was at first).
Very clever of Hasbro to let the 3rd party companys do all the design work.

Hot Rods arms are backwards

That's cos they're attached to the front of the car which hasn't been TF'd properly. It's copying the sequence in the film where he TFs on Quintesson and his arms swap sides. It also hides his wheels in robot mode.

Hotrod never used the same transformation sequence twice in that movie.
I'm convinced Floro Dery was hired for season 2 and beyond because he was cheap. Not for any discernable understanding of what he was doing or what a transformer was.

I know the arm spinning transformation is Ed's favourite version. I prefer the way he folds into and out of himself on Lookout mountain

+1 for Lookout Mountain, that’s a beautiful transformation sequence. The Quintesson version is more stilted, though perhaps appropriately robotic.

Each to their own. Some people like their toys to scale with each other. Some don't. Just different tastes and that is ok. -Ralph NOOOO!!! I MUST BEND YOU TO MY WILL!!! BEND TO MY WILL!!!!

I know the arm spinning transformation is Ed's favourite version. I prefer the way he folds into and out of himself on Lookout mountain Whereas perversely I like both. Which means for me the only true "masterpiece" Hot Rod could be one that transformed in *both* ways. I don't ask for much. But I do. For me, that Kup looks nice, but I doubt I'll bother. I have the LG version of his TR toy, and that's just a really nice Kup, with the slight retooling making all the difference. It's good that this one'll be available also for those that couldn't get the LG version, but it's not quite for me. I was going to say much the same about Hot Rod, but if he can actually do one of the two movie transformations then that'll work for me. And he does actually look like he'll be quite nice, once transformed correctly. So we'll see...

I know the arm spinning transformation is Ed's favourite version. I prefer the way he folds into and out of himself on Lookout mountain well, it's my favourite in a very superficial way. It looks more dynamic than the folding upon oneself is all. The Lookout Mountain one is definitely animated better. It's not like I think one should be prioritized over the other in anyway. I'm not THAT anal about my canon.

And nothing else was impied. I just noted you liked it better!
Up til now, no Hot Rod has transformed like that, doesn't mean I thought you dislike Hot Rod toys!

Voyager IIRC my leaks correctly so c£30 So this is like the leaders are now - voyagers with accessories equals leader. This Hot Rod is about Siege Ironhide height but has most of the accessories the masterpiece has, so voyager price. Interesting...

I notice both Hot Rod and Scourge look like they have hinged hands. They're really going for premium with these.

So he's a tiny voyager. If the accessories are worth it, I could live with that. However things like saws would just by chucked in a bag somewhere. And given the deluxe toy at a voyager price point he absolutely should not have a Gatdang faux chest!
Looks like he's the size of the Universe 2 and Gen 1 deluxes, like Drift.

If the price jumps that high permenantly, Im probably out or massively reducing my buys, but here to get a really good 86 movie line up Im alright with it. That Hotrod is exactly what Ive wanted since 2006. It looks better than the MP which cost more so yeah.
Even the size looks right. A lot of the movie toys fall into deluxe is too small voyager too big. Barring the return of the mega price point this is as good as it gets.
Not gonna stress about the fake chest, the chest has always been drawn as far more curved than the car mode all. If you want animation model based robot mode a fake chest is the best option.
