Oh no! What has Prowlwave done this time?
Had to take up the decking when I realised it had gone wonky. Wouldnt have been a problem but half the screws snapped as I tried removing them. Spent ages digging them out.
I guess too much stress on them so gonna try thicker ones.

And it's NOTHING to do with ANYTHING I've done, thank you very much. If it's nothing to do with what you've done yourself, then is this the correct thread for it? Martin Well yes, because I'm going to have to bloody well DIY sort it myself! The people who fitted the bathroom years ago... we think the shitty plumbing job they did has been slowly leaking under the bath... for... years...? Oh my God. I thought there was a funny smell. DAMN YOU, PROWLWAVE!!!

Busy day ahead... THE UNDER THE BATH FROM WHERE NO ONE RETURNS...
THE TRAIL,err TRIAL OF THE SHOCKPROWL BEGINS.
Having a quiet morning coffee to steel myself.
Two things will keep me going this day: 1, my chess game with Bogatan. I will think about my move whilst I... struggle. And 2, Siege Skywarp from darling Pinwig.
Think of me, friends. And if I don't make it... remember me...

First tip to the tip this afternoon. Good to finally start clearing out some of the rubbish that has built up over the lockdown while sorting the house. Also gave our spare TV unit thing away to someone this morning. More space!

Did the circular glass table come from yours? I can't remember if it was part of the flat furnishings or not.
Your donated bed and tv will be coming to Mossley.

The glass table was not us.
What date have you decided on the couch?

Don't forget the TV stand is not flat furnishing either.

Don't forget the TV stand is not flat furnishing either. I am aware. It's coming with me. The chap moving in after I am away cheekily tried to blag the drier for free. A swift message saying to the letting agency that this £200 piece of my own property was mine and was not being left for free was quickly dispatched. -Ralph

I think you also ought to be billing the letting agency for clearing up the problem with the drug users in the open areas. You've had quite an effect on that place.

I expect the drug dealers and users to be holding a party once they realise I have gone. They had been here for years before I arrived, apparently.

Busy weekend of almost successful DIY. Fixed 2 leaks in conservatory roof were two of the panels had slipped down. Applied a bit of silicone to hopefully secure them a bit.
While up there discovered teh state of the guttering. Oh boy! Scrapey scrape scrape. Powerwasher.
Motivated by those successes today I attempted to fix the slow refilling cistern. Turns out it was just a rubber seal that needed replacing but find one proved difficult. After two hours driving around got one and it was just a minute or two to install But the flushing mechanism got messed up at some point. Either the tank would fill but the flush wouldnt work or the flush worked but it left a gap so that the water didn't collect in the tank instead just pouring in to the toilet.
In the process of trying to work out where the lever was supposed to sit so it filled and flushed I broke hte bracket that held it in place.
Arrrrrgh!
So I ended up bypassing the flush button by creating a handle from a screwdriver attached to the flushing mechanism by some wire and held up above the toilet by another piece of wire attached to the bracket of a mirror.
Its not pretty but it works and doesnt take around half an hour to refill after flushing.
So..... result?

Not quite DIY but we're finally getting the garden fence and driveway gates sorted. They were in a bad state when we moved in three years ago and about 50% of the fence panels have disintegrated since then and the existing gates are barely hanging now.
Not cheap to get it sorted but paying for a bit of quality and a few customised bits to improve access at the same time. Thinking of it as an investment on the house. Should be sorted middle of next month.
Local pair of builders/joiners who just do fences and gates coming to do it. They have got good reviews and were very professional when they came to assess the job in person <24hrs after first contacting them so I am hopeful after some false starts over the last eight months with other builders.
Once this is done we need the plumber from start of the year back to replumb in the kitchen radiators before winter. And then a roofer to sort a number of things. Then we can think about redoing/extending the kitchen in general.

Hope it goes well.
I pulled up floorboards. Located wire. Chiseled out wall for new plugs. For office/multipurpose room. Connected wire for new plugs. Going well. Going very well. Turn around. Made a bad step...
Put foot through lounge ceiling.

Shockprowl gets to master his plastering skills next.
I fixed my computer chair yesterday. The tilt mechanism was completely trashed. It was leaning about 15 or 20 degrees to the left because the metal of the base of the chair had slowly been cracking. The tilt mechanism had worn badly so the chair tilted back even when it shouldnt. Gas lift also replaced. Cost £23 opposed to £100 getting a new chair.

Ever since the Shed build theres been some tools I really wanted. Last year grabbed a cheap band saw from Aldi (or Lidl) which is very nice to have around, but what Ive really wanted was a Drill Press. Drilling straight holes is the dream.
But an expensive dream. Even used car boot ones were £40 plus. But today I found a probably 40 year old Black and Decker old school one for £7. Its not perfect as you have to keep hold of the trigger to keep it spinning rather than just having an on off buttons but it works and now I can drill!
I want to drill.

Last time I turned on a drill it was my dad's old drill, and it was to test if it still worked after being kept in a shed for several years. There was a bright blue flash inside the casing, and I dropped it nearly instantly just in case. I then unplugged it at the mains and carefully picked it up by the flex and dropped it in the wheelie bin.. I had my answer. (This was not the drill that my father had drilled through the ring main with back in the 1970s I don't think. As far as I know it was that drill's immediate successor)
I've been tempted by a far smaller drill recently. I'm starting to consider whether I need a small 2-3mm bit hand drill for certain custom work on model kits and stuff. I don't currently own a full-size drill - and the only places I'm likely to need one in the near future are solid brick, so would probably need a masonry bit to actually penetrate.
