Ecto-1 was an Autobot from Cybertron.

Not in 'Ghostbusters', he wasn't. He was a car.
Maverick was a dude who drove a plane.

So... So...
Are we saying here that the transforming plane with a robot mode as seen, is actually Tom Cruise?

I'm more worried about how he thinks you drive rather than fly planes!!

Probably worth pointing out that "Maverick" is not actually the name of Tom Cruise's character - that's merely his call sign. It would therefore make sense that a disguised Cybertronian would adopt that call sign to use as his own identifier.

The only Maverick to appear in a Transformers comic was the Maverick in G.I. Joe's 'Battleforce 2000' team. Larry Hama killed him off in the period between G1 and G2.

Better pics are circulating. Looks alright though the robot could use some paint.

All that work I did Saturday pulling a section of the leaks and rumours thread apart so posts relating to each of the toys revealed with Maverick could be easily pulled into their own thread have just paid off handsomely :-)

If robot mode had some more colour to it I might like it more.
Reminds me of Machine Wars Skywarp. Which is almost a good thing. Great mould, terrible colours.

That robot is awful! Looks like a Bayverse reject.
I think a better paint job would improve that hugely. The jet itself is okay, but needs the kind of detail that made Ecto work. That's so plain it looks like a deluxe, but fifty dollars? Is this a leader? That's a lot of beige.

I like it due to the Cyberjet/Machine Wars vibe but at £50? Er. Um. Hmmm. Looks like a decent £25 toy.

There is nothing about this that compels me to buy it. The Tom Cruise connection is the first (and major) turn off. The price is the second. I'm gonna hold back and hope this is a pretool and not a weird one off, like potp P/CP

If it had been £30 I would be in there but on reflection it looks too basic for £50.

I like a weirdly proportioned robot, hell I've got all the Go! figures, but this just looks too simple for the price. I still haven't seen anything that says how big it is. What are we guessing? Voyager?
I predict I will feel indifferent toward this until it goes out of stock, then I'll suddenly realise I can't live without it.

If I didn't know there were toys to be revealed at Wallmart's thing next Friday (and probably at SDCC@Home) not to mention that Hasbro now does these Fan Friday things this would be more of a draw. Would rather save pennies and see what comes through those avenues first. -Ralph
