On the one hand it looks absolutely awful but on the other hand most of the film hasn't been shot yet so we shall see! I don't imagine this is a fair reflection of what the finished film will be.

It has Batman investigating a crime, with the police. Maybe we will see some detective work in amongst the savage beatings...

I was really put off by Batman savagely punching that guy over and over. Didn't like that at all.

It did seem a bit much, but maybe there is context to it in the finished film.

I would presume so, what with most of it not having been shot yet.

Yeah - if this is meant to be in continuity with the DCEU, ie a younger version of Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne, then part of the point (and a large part of my defense of BvS:DoJ) is that years as a vigilante has made Batman overly savage. This so far just shows that Batman has always been OTT.
I guess, I mean he may be trying to make the point that he's vengeance to the group to instill fear and possibly, as this is early in his life as Batman (right?) spread a message to the criminal underworld of Gotham, but I'm not sure we can give the screenwriters that much credit at this point.

Could be fun, although he is far too bulletproof for my tastes.

We've seen Catwoman and Riddler's costumes thanks to MacFarlane Toys: They make logical sense, but there's just absolutely nothing fun about them. I can understand Catwoman. While overwhelmingly boring, it fits. But Riddler? Riddler is about showmanship. This sort of costume only makes sense for him if his ultimate riddle amounts to "Who am I, detective?" But riddler is so well known to audiences that it would be really hard to do that sort of story in a movie.

It does look a mess, but they don't really seem to be sharing much of what the story is, so you never know.

First time I've seen or read anything about it, but I thought it looked alright. There seemed to be chemistry between the leads.

Booked the morning off work Friday week to see this, though the trailers do not suggest Dark Knight Trilogy quality to me. Still, it's a long film, getting on for 3 hours, so hopefully it will have some good stuff in it.

'The Batman' would have really benefited from having a catchy song during key fight scenes. Martin

I just cannot get excited for this. Every trailer, and every time I see a new element, it just looks even more boring.
Design choices for Batman, Catwoman, Riddler, Penguin, and the Batmobile make logical sense, but they lack a sense of fun, joy and creativity. The bits I see in trailers, the actors performances also come off as similarly bland and uninspired, despite Kravits and Pattinson being really interesting casting choices.
Ah well. I'd rather the fandom be filled with emo goths from this film that the edgelords that Snyder brought in.

Lego Batman is only as absolutely brilliant as it is after seeing the other Batman films, including the magnificent Dark Knight Trilogy included. It only works after seeing all the others.

The biggest problem with the Lego Batman movie is taking any of the other Batman films seriously after watching it.
I feel like that could have been phrased more clearly, but my brain wont ..... work.
