I think the round things behind with the handles might be the bit to work out. Also looks like the T-Rex arms have been removed too.

That's Volcanus's head, but different shoulders than Grimlock parts. Takara is even more reluctant to put something genuinely new in a G1 worship line than Hasbro. And there are no other dinobot groups that Takara acknowledges outside of the Dinobots and Dinoforce. And we know alternate Dinoforce parts exist. However as my friend pointed out to me, that's not Monstructor/Dinoking's head, and retooling volcanus's shoulders into Dinoking, but not the head would be a really weird flex. As such, I'm struggling to think of any alternative s to Dinoforce. But, as I said, we know pretools exist for Dinoforce. If Hasbro was behibd that, they didn't give a shit about accuracy. Look at how badly they forked up the other pretenders in that same line. So they wouldn't likely care about a new head for Dinoking. If Takara were following suit, maybe they wouldn't either for similar reasons: this set would already be wildly inaccurate. My vote goes to Dinoforce. But would be insanely happy if I were wrong and this is something actually new. |

I think beast warriors is often used in japan for BW characters, but could be very mistaken.
Either way, between the dinobots and terrorcons, there aren't many molds than work for other animals without massive amounts of work. Moreso than the seacons.
So while I could see Grimlock working as Gigastorm, and if I squint Overbite works for Hellscream and heavy retooling could get Thrustor, nothing else works for Dirgegun or Max B.
Grimlock- Hardhead
Slag- Guildart
Snarl- Saberback
Swoop- Hydra
Sludge- ? (They never used sauropods past g1. Genuinely clueless)
Alternate: Slag- Killer Punch
This hypothetical doesn't sit right though. The Cyborg Beasts feel "better" to me

The form for this line suggests it will be something more prominent in Japanese Transformers history than US, with significant remoulding. We've got Star Convoy and Super Megatron, the Seacons as they were big in Masterforce then a reuse for all that remoulding in God Neptune, being BWII. I would think G2 Dinobots doesn't fit the MO they're going for, and wouldn't need remoulding. I think Dinoking is most likely, without shells, but I agree the head isn't quite right and the eyes are the wrong colour. It does look like the side has been remoulded a bit to more look like the handles on the side of the original's head though, and there are plenty of beast bodies now from the dinobots and abominus to make up the individual characters given the remoulding the Seacons got.  |

Actually the head is a much better match than I thought.
My money is still on Dinoforce.
However, there were dinobot redesigns in Brave that could combine in the anime.
Can't remember if the dinobots actually got retooled as non-combining toys or not.

Dinoking is an odd one the name means Dinobots make sense but the Terrorcons are the best fit for two of the limbs at least and as good as Snarl, Slag or Sludge for the other two. Nothing really matches the original torso at least Grimlock is on two legs and a dino. Hes also somewhat on the chunky blocky side. Downside hes the worst of the CW torsos by some distance.
