Don't understand why Thundercracker is a troopbuilder. I have Thundercracker, I don't need another.
But I'll take a dozen cybertronian empire shocktroopers.
I'd be more excited for the autotrooper if it were the er prowl mold. Or at least siege prowl.
They really don't understand the concept of troopbuilder sets, do they? Only one of each, from several unrelated sources, in a very difficult to get set?

Yay for the Baliff, who was in a a hard to get box, making a return in traditional Allicon colours. Possibly the thing I'm most excited about here. I've seen people saying the colours might be off in the pictures, which I can believe given they're taken with a mobile pointed at a PC screen. But Transformers, and indeed Hasbro, has always had a problem doing troopers. They've only just got the hand of how to do trooper multipacks for SW. How did last year's Buzzworthy Bumblebee set do in the US? How hard was it to get? Over here it's hit clearance and was available at some ridiculous prices. I can see 50% off on eBay and I know I've seen cheaper. OTOH 2021's set was made of Unobtainium. |

These are certainly some sets they've put out. The Ironhide and Prowl "sleepover pals" set is just daft, as we've already discussed, because they're just permanently in a state of dull surprise, which'll just make them look odd on the shelf or being played with in any way that doesn't kill them. Ironhide's blast damage effect chest piece though is a little better than Prowl's silver tit.
The troopbuilder pack is certainly interesting... although it is indeed not really a troop builder set. For me the only one of interest is the G2 Trooper - and I'm not buying a couple of these packs to buy two of him, and ened up with six figures I'm not fussed about. I guess the option exists to buy sets and swap figures with other people, but are people really going to be troop building Autotroopers or Alicons? I mean I'm sure *someone* will, but not enough people to get a decent trade of spares going within the fandom...
As for Grimlock, that just looks like a straight re-use of the original SS AoE Grimlock figure, but maybe with a couple of slightly different paint applications..? Hard to tell from those screenshots.

Here's a missed idea, that combines the best of both worlds. Origin Jazz as the autotrooper.
Jazz repaint, like the original- check.
Boxy van-ish vehicle like the botcon TFA version- check.

In fact I occasionally ran into the original set for some time after I stopped seeing the goldbug set. ( Edit: This makes it sound like I was still finding the original set after I stopped seeing the goldbug set. I meant that relatively compared to each other, the original seemed to have a longer duration. Still not sure if I'm making that make sense. I rolled 15 pans of nuts today on day seven of a six day work week. I'm not currently sane.) This new one is gonna be a trick. Three things that will likely turn off most people, packed with a troop building generic seeker that will drive the seeker collectors nuts. Hard to tell if it's gonna be a rockstar set, or a shelfwarmer. |
