I still lament not getting God Ginrai and God Bomber reissue for £10 from HLJ because 'shipping would have been too much and I already had Nucleon Quest Convoy'. |

I do regret not picking up one of the Hasbro versions when so cheap in TRU to serve as a base for ickle Transformers.

I thought we would have a suitable Powermaster Prime thread, but apparently not.
I always assumed reissue God Ginrai had his smokestacks shortened in 2002, but no, original God Ginrai came short stacked back in 1988. Hasbro has had a lot of stick for modfications due to safety standards and heres Takara, in 1988, just shrinking smokestacks for .. .what? Fun? The aesthetics?
Also 1988 Ginrai came with red eys on the smaller robot. So there.
Anyway, yes an original Ginrai and Godbomber arrived today with some Toyfu stock and also a Takara The Last Knight Optimus Prime Clear Version, which is very clear.
Godbomber is in a bit of a state, no red wings or weapons and a broken arm. In the auction photos the broken peg for the arm is visible in the styrofoam so I was hoping, though really not expecting, that it might make it here and be fixable. Sadly packing by the seller, repacking by the proxy and then a journey of several thousand miles it has been lost. It does have a nice super sunfaded box though, so that nice.

Ahhh, Power Master Optimus Prime. I -think- he was the last Transformer I bought during my Phase 1.
They really need to do a PROPER Generations update. I would buy it.

There was one, Shockers. It was done in Titans Return. The Takara version, maybe. The Hasbro version is an utter disappointment in the Powermaster department. I regret not buying the 3rd party PC-16 Jinrai toy when it was available. POTP Optimus would work as a Powermaster Prime, with a little remoulding. I half-expect Hasbro to release an updated version in a year or two for 3-4 times the original price. |
