Well, taking that with a pinch of salt certainly, but for me the thing that makes it authentic is the splitting up of the See- Attack Planes over several different exclusives. Making a group impossible to complete does sound like Hasbro... But that all sounds like it'll save me some money, since none of that seems too exciting. Except for toy colours Galvatron - they better not be lying about that one! I would be excited about Goldbug, too, except that he now has to be Shattered Glass. And... why? Just because having another Autobot with Bumblebee's mold but a different head would be too much, so an evil Autobot is more of a draw? Weird. Still, if it looks like a good Goldbug then I'll just have to get it and put a proper Heroic Autobot(TM) insignia on instead.

Well... There is no point in an SG Megatron, but it gets us Marvel Megatron. SG was loosely based on Marvel Megs, after all.

Would love it if they did a new head based on the original advert animation model. No chance of something that exciting happening though.

Fp did a new head so... maybe.
Trying to figure out if theres an alternate angle to the rest of the SG list.
Im working on the assumption these arent going to be straight up redos of FPs takes on the characters.
Goldbug - nothing really, unless its an excuse for a second use of a Goldbug remould Jetfire - ??? it wont be the big one will it? If its not a Jetfire toy Im not sure what they do here or why. Starscream - ER mould or Tetrajet in Jetfire colours might still work. But would that mean Starscream colours on Commander Jetfire? Megatron - yeah okay that gives us Comic Megatron, thats fine I guess.

SG Jetfire is a repurpose of Gentai Dark Skyfire So Siege Jetfire seems a sure shot off hand, except that it's so big and so expensive. Except for SDCC, we've never had a singular exclusive this expensive. (Though my general recoil comes exclusively from FP's prices. A toy like this would be like... $300 from them. Hasbro's Selects have all so far been at or near retail price) The only other real alternative would be CW Jetfire. Given the choice, I'd prefer the commander. Much better toy. Also may be them testing the waters on exclusives using commanders, which of the two we have, have very little reuse potential to comp the mold expense. Starscream is almost assuredly to be the Siege mold. SG Starscream was a repaint of Galaxy Force Starscream, which was a (significantly better) version of the G1 tetrajet.

One wonders if the new Starscream could finally be a G1 coloured CW Starscream just to keep Phil happy, with the other jets also being limbs.

There hasn't. At least, not a solid colored one.

I'd buy the ER Starscream mould in those colours. Again, I don't know why, but that would be as exciting as the purple prime. Which was very exciting. For some reason.
I wish I understood.

I'd be more into it if SG was generally more clever. More clever in story, and more clever in decoes. But the plot is a wildly severe misunderstanding of Mirror, Mirror, and the majority of the toys are either repurposes to flesh out the universe, or are the really weird "rival deco" concept. Meanwhile, most of the genuinely nice original decoes like Blurr are being ignored.

Here's a thought. SG Jetfire from a retooled crossover Maverick Now that's an interesting idea, and a likely one - surely they'll be wanting to get more than one use out of that mold. It'll be even more interesting if they do the thing where "Shattered Glass" means "not the usual colour scheme" and we get the Cyberjet Jetfire out of it.

It's hard to know given some of the names are a bit vague - like is that Voyager Megatron the Shattered Glass one? Doesn't feel likely that SG stuff would escape Selects and go into the retail line to me. Possibly Shattered Glass, yes. There's a SG Megatron from the ER Voyager listed as tmukhub.proboards.com/post/436711/threadWell that's just... mindlessly boring. Closer to the original would be Kingdom Galvatron. On the flipside though, it means a G1 Megatron in his Marvel Colors with the black helmet.

I suppose it's an easy way for Hasbro to get multiple uses from moulds that don't have obvious repaints. There's not a lot you can do with Blurr without at least some remoulding or a new head.
I still can't work out why I'm so fascinated by Shattered Glass. I think it must be the themed colours Prime and Ratchet have, so once we get figures that aren't purple and turquoise I'll probably lose interest.

I guess once you get so specific with a mould then SG is pretty much the only place you can go to reuse it, sadly.
Shame, as I have never had any interest in Shattered Glass.

I'd say the market for prebeasts is just as big as SG, just not as vocal. I'm not suggesting the SG market is particularly big. I think it's really niche. Just extremely loud.
And there's a lot of good prebeast molds, currently.

So this'll be the big comics tie-in that they were talking about - IDW are going to be putting out a Shattered Glass comic. Which isn't exciting for me, but I expect Pinwig to be buying all the cover variants. And it's going to be a series that I'm going to have to get anyway, just in case someone comes along in the future and pulls it into main IDW 2.0 continuity not looking at anyone in particular John Barber am I..? Still, well done for leaking it early yourselves, Hasbro. Good game...
