But will we get a gold Goldbug with that mold? Because honestly I am waiting on a Throttlebot Goldbug...or better still all the Throttlebots. ...

Most of the Throttlebots would have come quite easily from this mould, and the VW for Goldbug. I get licensing issues for the VW, but I wonder what stopped them from taking the Throttlebot route?

Nice head sculpt, but that's about all that is good here. Shame, a G1 Goldbug would have been a must buy. The neck scares me

I've seen it proposed that this isn't a production copy, and the head is a prototype made of a standard fairly fragile plastic, that they didn't wish to risk breaking by shoving it all the way down.
I don't know how true that is, but either way, it's not something to worry about until we see the real thing.

I guess they thought that Shattered Glass would sell better than Throttlebots. And to be fair SG does allow a range of different molds to be re-used in different ways, whereas Throttlebots are all cars, and maybe that sort of line wouldn't be sure-fire seller - at least not at the Deluxe price-point.

Yeah, Selects exclusives Hubcap and Bug Bite were seen as better choices! It's insanity!

I really like it. I like the deco. And I cxouldn't give two shits about accuracy to a line that I thought was conceptual garbage anyway. This will be someone else. I will find a new name and apply a new badge and all will be right with the world.
But now they,ve made the new head, yes, a proper Goldbug would be lovely. So would Glyph.

I would not say no to a Glyph.

Glyph and Tapout were far more deserving than some of the Amazon Odyssey sets.
They could have done ratchet anywhere, after all, and no one cared about the paradron medic.

Paradron Medic is still a draw for a certain section of the fanbase.

Goldbug. GOLD BUG. I don't actually know much about Shattered Glass but I assume it's all about opposites so is that why this figure isn't gold and isn't a bug? Or is SG Optimus Prime stupid, so when Bumblebee get's rebuilt and says "Look at this new paint job - I'm a black car!" he says "That you are Bumblebee - so from now on that's exactly what you'll not be called - Gold Bug!"

It occurs to me I might have to get Goldbug purely because I have all the other Cliffjumper variants.

But this? There is no commonality between the Cliffjumper mold and the Cybertron Hotshot mold. This is just choosing Bumblebee Body for G1 Namesake alone. If FP had wanted to do that, they had access to Classics Bumblebee. Instead they chose to do something more original. But unlike the others I mentioned earlier, there are a lot of cars to choose from. And a fair few a lot closer to Cyb Hotshot, including SS86 Hotrod (it's false chest actually works in it's favor). They took one of the most fun concepts of the original set, and made the most boring mold choice possible. Also, I really hope that the $30 deluxes are funding something down the line, because ER Cliffjumper wasn't worth the price of a deluxe, let alone $30. I am 100% certain that if FP hadnt had their idiotic not reusing moulds rule in place and if they had access to the mould in 08 SG Bee would have used the classic mould. So Im not crediting them with originality. Having said that I do think theres an element of riffing on Movie Bumblebee in the choice of the Hotshot mould that really worked. In that regard Hasbro choosing the Cliffjumper body over the VW Bee body actually makes this a really good mould choice for me. Even if its an enforced decision due to licensing (if thats the case).

Im not convinced they wont. Goldbug as a retail release of the Bee mould in the next few years along with Hubcap and CJ repaints as the other 3 cars. They could be waiting on other moulds for Jeep guy and truck Guy (my brain has gone).

Rollbar and Wideload. Aside from Goldbug, it's the cars' names that I can never retain.

Searchlight is white, Freeway is blue and the red guy is Chase, I think.

I find it easier to remember G1 Chase is red since Rescue Bots Chase is blue.

I also guess the Cybertron Hot Shot Mould makes sense as the Cybertron Legends version of the character was used as Bumblebee in Classics too.

It's kinda like how I trained myself to remember that Runamuck is the white one because muck would show up more on white.

I noticed this the other day, going back to the discussion that for this line the Pulse exclusivity is the comic pack-in, not the toy itself. Robot Kingdom's listing for Megatron says different packaging/no comic: www.robotkingdom.com/f29125l00.html

The shiny shiny UV cover comics at Pulse are 100% of the draw of these for me. They even come with free toys!

Unless it's $30 to make up for the overcharge of Blurr and the deluxes to follow, and the extreme overcharge of Goldbug, I think I will be giving this one a pass.
