The week starts with my beard back at full glory after a long absence, though not through choice. Had some bother with sores and the like on my skin of late, therefore less shaving for a while until it all heals up.
Now that the beard is temporarily back, I get to be evil all week.

My aunt gave me a £15 Woolworths voucher for my birthday, so I made a detour on the way home, voucher in hand.
I looked at the DVDs... hmm, yes... oh, and that's a good price. Maybe I'll spoil myself. And I'll still have some left over for a couple of box files to keep paper stuff in. But first I think I'll have a wander around the rest of the shop.
Fool! The rest of the shop included paint! And paint brushes! Reminding me that my bathroom walls could do with a couple of fresh white coats.
I leave the shop with a pot of paint, a paint brush and two box files.
I have spent the evening since then painting said bathroom, interspersed with short breaks in which to debate the structure of the ideal society on the Hub forum.
I've just packed it in, and the almost-empty paint pot and brush I couldn't be bothered to clean are in the wheelie bin awaiting tomorrow's collection. Good riddance!
Bathroom looks nice though. And I've earned this pizza.

Spent mine with my head inside the PC that was delivered to me last night. Whichever muppet designed a PC so that the chip fan covers the entrance to the slots for the onboard devices (HDD etc) should be shot.
Anyway it's working with my old HDD slaved to the new one and a mass of new installs done today. Huzzah !

Extremely busy day today - didn't actually get a chance for a proper sit down until about nine this evening. What made it worse that it wasn't as if I was doing anything very interesting - just a bit of cleaning up and some necessary phone calls.
Ah well, tomorrow is another day.

Today has been better than yesterday in general. I actually feel that I have managed to get things achieved today - and I feel less worn out this evening than I did yesterday.
Mind you, I could have done without sleeping in this morning and having to double-time it down to the station in order to get the train...

I have not been sneezing much the last couple of days, which is nice.
I got a letter from the University today. I figured it was something to do with graduation, and in a way it is. The first page begins thus:
"Dear Nicholas, I am writing to inform you that you have been recommended by the Department of Chemistry for the ICI Nobel Enterprises Award. My colleagues join me in congratulating you on your performance..."
and goes on to explain where to go on graduation day for a reception for prize winners. I figured the second page of the letter was more info about the award, but no:
"Dear Nicholas, I am writing to inform you that you have been recommended by the Department of Chemistry for the Oswald Robertson Prize in recognition of your outstanding performance in Chemistry/Environmental Agricultural Sciences. My colleagues join me in congratulating you on your performance..."
and so on as the first. So... apparently I could be picking up gongs like Russia at Eurovision if the awards people like what they see. That should pad out the CV nicely.

That is great news indeed Nick! Well done!
Almost all the way through the week and things seem to be working out fairly well - got lots of stuff sorted out at work and have a fairly organised looking desk with most things all squared away.
A morning off tomorrow for a doctors appointment about something that has been niggling away at me for a couple of years now, which means that the alarm doesn't have to go off at six-thirty. And then it is the weekend, and as I have the house mostly sorted out I should have plenty of time for reading books, watching DVD's and enjoying any good weather we get.

Yes well done Nickos! Incredible!
Hello Sports Fans! Shockprowl in for a stand-alone night shift before another week off! Piglet's birthday party is on Sunday, with her acutal birthday on Tuesday 17th (0430 in the AM to be exact- christ what a night that was!). Got lots of things planned for the week, off for it all. Going to a great Farm park on her acutal birthday, she likes animals. And may go to Flamingo Land at some piont as well! So really looking forward to it. Piglet kinda gets it's her birthday, but not really. I'm sure she wont mind all the millions of prezzies she's got!

I survived the extensive appraisal process on my course. Very tough. One week to go. I'll have outstanding practice hours to complete after that and then I'll be done. Hopefully I shall finish in July. Also: the chicks are really digging the beard. -Ralph
