It's boring. Direction is flat. Most of the chase is 'car goes past still camera'. The characters lack character. Lack of score. The mafia are set up as a threat but do fuck all. Also: it lacks an ending.
I honestly don't see what's so special about it.
My wife loved it.

It's definitely a film that you can tell they didn't know how to end.
Love it or hate it, by ending the way it did it has one of the most famous and most discussed film endings in the history of cinema, which contributed to the film's longevity. I think it would not have such fame today if it had had a conventional conclusion.
Little is known about this goblin beyond its dual role as an offensive weapon and teapot.
True. And while I've mostly just seen the end of the film (mostly the car chase stuff) I've not seen the rest to know if its thematic or not. Like, is the whole film a series of increasingly perilous mishaps, with Charlie saying "I've got a plan"? If it is, then it probably works. If not, then it runs the risk of being unsatisfying, or worse, sequel bait.
