New Wreckers series coming later this year! www.syfy.com/syfywire/idw-new-transformers-miniseries-wreckers-tread-and-circuitsThis looks like it's going to be a very different take from the classic Marvel Wreckers, or from Roche's Marvel-inspired Wreckers from IDW 1.0 - it looks like it's going to be a little more madcap than hard-boiled and grim. But that kind of makes sense - if it's part of the new(ish) IDW 2.0 universe (I don't see anything that says it's not) then there's already a lot of grim, violent warry stuff going on there, so a grim version of the Wreckers wouldn't really stand out. Although, of course, this could also very easily turn dark after opening light, so who knows. Whatever the case, it's got Jack Lawrence on art, so I'll be picking this up for sure.

Yup, and I dare say I will be pestering Jack for some original art from the series at a future date.

And for me it'll certainly provide a lot more material for when I finally get around to commissioning Jack to do me a Machine Wars Prime sketch...

I gave up early on IDW 2.0 as it didn't feel any different from the previous iteration other than being slower paced so I will wait on reviews for this.

First issue delivered today.
No spoilers, but a very different take on a Wreckers unit for IDW2 based on what's been revealed so far.

IDW2 received a lot of criticism, but I'm glad that they're building up the new continuity over time and introducing familiar teams/characters gradually.
The Last Stand of the Wreckers always struck me as a strange 'introduction' to the team. It's an utterly amazing story, of course, but it relies a little too much upon the reader already being familiar with the Marvel incarnation. We've seen the IDW Wreckers in Stormbringer and All Hail Megatron previously, but they're fairly forgettable in these stories*. I would have liked to have seen a few more Wreckers-centric mini-series that focus upon their activities as a functioning unit, before they had their last stand.
* Maybe it's me. I was buying every issue in floppy and paperback form at the time, but had forgotten about their previous IDW appearances by the time of LSOTW.

IDW2's biggest failings early on were the slow pace and then mind-numbingly stupid idea to bring back stupid mistakes from IDW1 - hello Enigma of Combination.
Yeah, the Wreckers were a bit on the periphery, aside from Stormbringer and Spotlight Kup and that little Prowl tale there wasn't much about them. Although Nick and James did a good job in giving us deep lore for them in LSOTW.
Though to be fair I think that actually works not having a lot of focus on them , effectively they are the Autobot Black Ops team. In my headcanon I see someone like Prowl overseeing them and the Dinobots. Grimlock and co being the big loud public distraction, the Wreckers quiet and dirty.

Very much enjoyed this first issue. Yes, it's a different tak on the Wreckers, but as I said above, we already have those other takes on the Wreckers, so it's good to see something different. And more to the point, this comic was fun. Looking forward to the next issue.

Really enjoying seeing Jack on art duties here, but not so much a fan of the story so far.
