Travel Update On 27th July, ASLEF, a Trade Union which represents many UK railway workers, announced nine different UK railway companies will be holding a one day strike on Saturday 13th August 2022. ASLEF’s full announcement regarding the planned industrial action can be found here: aslef.org.uk/news/aslef-train-drivers-strike-nine-companies-augustAs the planned industrial action falls on the Saturday of TFNation 2022, we feel it is important for TFNationals to be aware and consider the below points when planning their journey to the convention; If you were due to travel by train, please check to see if your train is still running. At the time of writing, not all railway companies associated with ASLEF have decided to strike, so your train may still be running. If your train is running, please keep in mind it is likely to be very busy as passengers from other services may switch to services which are unaffected. Arriving at the station in good time before your scheduled departure, and having a seat reservation can often be helpful. Cancellations often impact the following day’s trains, so if you were planning to travel by rail on the Sunday, please check to see if your preferred trains are still running. If you find your train has been cancelled as a result of industrial action, you will be entitled to a refund from the operator you bought your ticket from. Please see the operator’s website for details. Consider alternatives. Car-sharing and coaches are good options. Likewise, it may actually work out better for you to arrive on Friday, rather than Saturday, if you are in a position to do so. Please see the accommodation page of our website for tips. Finally, roads are likely to be busier than normal as people move away from trains on the Saturday (and possibly Sunday) so if you’re driving, do leave yourself extra time to travel safely. If there are any updates to the situation we will bring them to you, but please keep a close eye on the news and always check your travel method before beginning your journey, to keep your travel as stress free as possible. Stay hydrated and get those TFN playlists ready! Til All Are One TFN Crew

Covid Update
Dear TFNationals,
It's great to see so many Transformers fans ready for the return of TFNation. Whether you’re posting on fan sites, hashtagging on social media or answering con-questions on YouTube, we’ve heard your excitement and we share it! But for now, we need to give you updated information about our Covid-19 measures.
Since our Covid-19 policy was launched at the beginning of the year, the landscape has changed dramatically. Most notably the UK Government has withdrawn domestic covid passes for events, which we were looking to rely upon as proof of vaccination status. One by one, international borders have reopened and large events have returned around the world.
The end result is, whilst we remain committed to safety and well-being, it is now going to be impossible for us to try and enforce our original policy, given the world around us has changed so much. We’ve explored several different avenues but ultimately, we don’t like any response which would see attendees being treated differently based on the place they call home - that’s not the TFN way.
Our revised policy is therefore as follows;
We strongly recommend attendees obtain all of the vaccinations and booster jabs available to them, provided your pre-existing health makeup allows you to do so. (Please seek qualified medical advice, local to you). We see TFN as a mask-friendly zone and we encourage attendees who feel more comfortable in masks to wear them without worry. As the Government has removed the necessity for masks to be worn in hospitality settings, it is likely you will encounter members of the public who are not masked as we share the hotel with other events and guests, so it may provide you with some reassurance to carry your own. We strongly recommend attendees take a lateral flow test prior to travelling, just for peace of mind. Whilst the UK Government has unfortunately removed free access to these for most people, they can still be bought for a small price at pharmacies. If you are displaying symptoms, please do not travel. (In relation to that point, it remains our advice that attendees should always have appropriate travel insurance in place prior to commencing their journey).
We would also like to take this opportunity to name some of the new measures and considerations we are putting in place to keep you safe;
We will be encouraging attendees to maintain good hygiene, with frequent hand washing. Hand sanitiser will be freely available in various locations around the event, including every public bathroom. We have taken the decision to implement separate queuing systems, to try and afford attendees additional comfort when waiting to enter our various event halls. New signage and (not so new) crew members will be on hand to point you in the right direction. Perhaps the biggest change, we have redesigned our trader hall floor plan. We’ve always done our best to provide extra wide aisles compared to similarly sized events, but the new floorplan will see us affording additional space around doors and at the guest area of the hall, so attendees can more easily practise social distancing when queuing, should they wish to do so.
If all goes to plan you may not notice these additional changes, but we wanted to bring them to your attention so you know we’re doing all we can to keep your safety and comfort at the forefront of our thoughts, at a time when most measures have been removed by the Government. Of course, if you have any reservations about the change in policy then please feel free to contact us at support@tfnation.com as we are always happy to talk with attendees.
Thanks for taking the time to read this extra long post - we’ll get back to big fighting robots really soon! We can’t wait to see you in August!

Just got a Saturday day ticket for me and the boy, going to drive up and down same day due to this year's being sensible with the budget.

You say that, but, I am going mainly with the intent to donate a couple bits to Toy Fu, the likelihood of me picking up something is sadly small. Though I'm sure the child will get a treat.

Worked out my spends budget, which is not a lot due to These Tough Economic Times. Probably just enough for the stamps set and maybe a print or two. Will be fully occupied though with Toy-Fu so not exactly a hardship.

I've been packing my bag tonight. I had to do it a few days early due to other things this week. It will be an early start for me on Sunday, driving up then staying at the Hilton till Monday. Hopefully I shan't be too tired to stay up and socialise with all the lovely people I haven't seen for a few years.
I was looking at the schedule earlier. If I want to attend all the talks, it doesn't look like I'm left with much time to wander the traders room, meet the guests and chat to people I bump into - which will probably be the most important thing for me this year! Well, as long as I see the Royal Mail talk, I'll have to see what happens with the others.
I'm actually not in the market for many toys there this year. Most new releases, I get straight from suppliers when they come out, which just leaves things like exclusives for current toys. Older toys I'd be on the lookout for would mostly be Combiner Wars, but I struggle to remember which I've got half the time, so I'm I'm not too bothered about them this year. I expect the best Toy-Fu stuff will have gone by the time I get there. The one toy I really want is the Titan Trypticon but I imagine any there will go on the Saturday. So I'm expecting it'll be mostly tat and prints for me this year. Hopefully Micro Machines.

I shall be in the Arden tomorrow from mid-afternoon. Mrs Ralph will be joining me at the Hilton Friday-Sunday.
Hotel costs/increased cost of living has zapped my pennies so it might just be the stamps for me!

I'll be in the bar Friday. Stupidly didn't realise the Friday events are on a seperate ticket - not that it matters as the bar is the place.

I should be checking in at the Arden about now. Trapped instead at New St due to an incident on the line, possibly for hours.

I stayed at that one a few years back. Cannot remember a thing about it apart from still having the pack with the four little bottles of assorted green liquids out of the bathroom and that it was quite a hike over the railway to get to the Hilton.
I can't make it this year folks. Blue has been good enough to send me a zine, but can anyone bag me one of Andy's issue 333 zines please? I would love one.

Just on the unlikely off chance... Anyone picked up a Grimlock postcard from Royal Mail lying about the place?
I've bought one but must have lost it/had it slip out when walking around. It's set 165, but I can't get a replacement cos of the one per person limit.
