Help! I am not well.
I seem to have developed a strange nostalgia for the live action movies and toys even though they are not very good.
Hoping it will pass but purchased a Bayformer for the first time in years today.

It's not the movies you're nostalgic for, it's the feeling of going into the stores and seeing the isles full of Transformers. It's that red packaging, the experamentalness of some of the toys (real gears), and that Hasbro was unabashedly unafraid to do new things. It was the last period before G1 nostalgia crushed the life out of everything. And I think DotM and it's follow-up was the last time we got a proper functional mainlines, instead of what should be the mainline be drowned in onesteps and cheap gimmicks that were recycling the same five characters over and over, while the nostalgic side line gets treated like the mainline, while recycling the same ten characters over and over. Also, the bayverse designs themselves aren't usually bad*, it's just not a pleasant aesthetic. TFP shows us that the bayverse designs clean up fairly well, even if I hate the TFP aesthetic as much as bayverse aesthetic. At least TFP gives us a hint of what they'd look like in the more traditional styles. *First Megatron, Demolishor, and Rampage of course are terrible |

The first three are unwatachable now anyway due to Shia being exposed as a domestic abuser. Can't watch anything with him in it now. Makes my skin crawl.
