I think it's the legs that aren't working for me. They're too long. ER Prime just about gets away with it, but this lad just looks top heavy. I suspect that's the reason all his photos show him crouched down.

Yeah, the head sculpt is nice, but certainly he's far too lanky. I'll be waiting for a sale for this one, I think. If at all.

There's one thing this has that's way better than the original, at least in my opinion.
I like the red flames way more than the red to black fade on the original.

Sad but I can't help but feel it just looks cheap and nasty compared to the original. I don't know why I feel that much more strongly with this one than any other, like I don't feel like that with Selects G2 Megatron compared to the original. I think it's the trailer. It just looks like cheap tat.

It upsets me that the chest windows on this $50 leader class are fake, when the $12 deluxe one ten years ago managed to use the real ones.
I don't care that it's more accurate to the original toy. The original toy had electronics through it's torso that prohibited a fair bit, and the engineering wasn't as advanced as it is 30 years later, either.

The shape of the windows is different. RTS compromised by reshaping the robot mode chest but if you're after a flat chest and angled truck windows there's only one way to achieve it easily |

Yeah, I think I prefer what RTS did. And I'd previously been okay with the trailer, what with it being more a weapons platform and less of a base I didn't think that the size would matter too much. But now seeing it next to Prime it's... absurdly small. It's like he's carrying around his kid's play equipment. Which would be fine if they'd remembered that they were also doing Micromasters once upon a time, but they haven't. So this is... disappointing.

Hmm. I'm not sure about this. I look at that base and it's ER Prime's trailer all over again. It just looks like a cheap knock off of the original rather than something that compliments it. Like the modulators. There's no fun in those, they're nothing like the original Micromaster bases. I might get the Scourge repaint if the colours are good, but this seems superfluous if you have the original. The robot looks like ER Prime with shoulder pads too. The TR one is much more distinctive. I just see disappointment. Come on, Pins. Keep listening to yourself. You do NOT need this one. NOT. |
