Any boarders playing this? I have been playing a lot lately after a hiatus.

Just started. What's the deal with pokestops and gyms?

What happens when I run out of pokeballs?

How do I heal (had a battle with team rocket) and evolve the pokemon?

What's the CP number? Are there base stats which are more important?

Do the pokemon in the local vicinity change? Our home seems surrounded by ghost types and it scares me.

Can you earn coins in game? Or pay only?

350 items doesn't seem a lot. I'm already at 210 after a day, but I guess when my level is higher, I'll stop accumulating them for free so fast.

Ohh lots to learn then! Gifts are opened for new items such as potions, balls and revive crystals. The latter is what you need to heal a knocked out Pokémon. Leaving your Pokémon in a gym that matches your colour will accrue coins the longer they are able to stay there.
Actual wild Pokémon will vary as time goes on although they are also associated with the location.

If you appraise a Pokémon you can get an idea of how good they are. Star rating. Night combat power is better for battles. Every time you catch you get candy, also when they are transferred. Transfer the crap ones and keep the better ones. You can evolve when you have enough candy.
Phew. You’d best google it cos there’s a lot more to learn.
