Was some of the songs written for certain characters?
Most are for Hot Rod / Rodimus Prime - Dare, The Touch,

To me, Dare (my favourite) is Hot Rod and Kup's song.
A strange one, but I always associate Hunger with Unicron. The lyrics seem to work for him. I did listen to the soundtrack lots before owning the video and didn't remember them playing it in the Sharkticon scene in the cinema.
I also misremembered Instruments Of Destruction playing in the Devastator scene, so that stuck too.

I prefer Dare to The Touch, but my favourite is probably Instruments of Destruction, even if there is still a small amount of trauma just listening to it.

Other than The Touch (Optimus Prime), Instruments of Destruction (Megatron), and Dare to Be Stupid (Wreck Gar), I associated pretty much every other song (not the instrumentals) with different stages of Hot Rod's journey towards becoming Rodimus Prime. When The Touch plays during his final battle with Galvatron I always saw it as Hot Rod finally receiving Optimus' blessing to become the new leader.

The Touch does feel like it was written following Hot Rod becoming Rodimus & escaping Unicron - going by the words then it was used for Optimus at the start. But it does depends on which parts of the movie where finished first

I associate The Touch with Hot Rod. You mean you associate it with Hot Rod watching Optimus Prime fight all the Decepticons single-handedly, before getting him killed? Or with Hot Rod letting the spirit of Optimus open the Matrix for him when he would otherwise have been killed by Galvatron? Or with Hot Rod returning from being Rodimus Prime off-camera after Optimus beats him up and takes back the Matrix so he can open it and eradicate the Hate Plague? Or with Hot Rod not being in the Bumblebee movie at all when Bumblebee plays it to inspire Charlie, whilst no doubt thinking of his leader Optimus? Martin |

But that's only because he's gaining the Prime's powers so he gets the Prime Music too In the Movie (as intended) Prime didn't have 'special powers' because he was an old toy. Hot Rod was the new toy chosen one that would rise from the ranks and use the power of the matrix etc etc. And Huffer wasn't moving barriers when the darkest hour came - he was too busy being a bit dead. |

Are there any clues in the 2 Movie comics if the writers could have heard any of the songs while writing the comics? Also what draft of the Movie did Marvel use for the comic?
