calling all TFNationals:
We promised we'd do our best for you. It's taken a little energon and a lot of work, but today we're delighted to confirm TFNation will return in 2023!
TFNation 2023 will be rolling out from 11th to 13th August 2023, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel in Birmingham, UK.
Announcements regarding tickets, guests and discounted bedrooms will follow as we move towards the event.
(If you're too excited to wait until August, tickets are still available for TFN: Mini-Con®, our separate, single day convention)

Tickets sorted for Mrs Ralph, who will be back for the full weekend as she enjoyed 2022 so much.
Aiming to sort Thurs-Tues hotels next weekend. Same as last year. Come down Thursday, leave on Tuesday.

There's a lot of discussion on Facebook pages for events I'm attending (a comic con and a Supernatural/Buffy convention) about what the actor guests will be able to do at the events during the SAG-AFTRA strike. Basically, they'll be able to sign attendees' personal items and won't be able to to talk about any projects - past, present or future - that were/are produced under SAG-AFTRA agreements. Which is pretty much any project involving actors in the USA. Dos and Don'ts are explained here: www.sagaftrastrike.org/cons-appearances-faqsStrangely, I haven't seen the issue raised for TFNation, but what it boils down to is that, assuming the guests are SAG-AFTRA members, they may not be able to talk specifically about their Transformers work at a Transformers convention! There's a tool to search for struck productions: www.sagaftra.org/contracts-industry-resources/signatory-search. A lot of Transformers projects are listed, including the films and a number of the cartoons, including Rescue Bots and the Sunbow productions. Beast Wars and Beast Machines are not on the list, presumably because they were made in Canada. So Su Blu, for example, might be able to talk about Beast Wars but not Transformers The Movie. The Sunbow productions seem a bit of an oddity to me amongst all this. Although they were produced under SAG-AFTRA contracts, they are now owned not by a production company, but Hasbro. But one would assume that in purchasing them, they also purchased any remaining legal obligations under the original contracts, such as residual payments. |

Lots of assumptions, fears and rumors virally spreading all over social media. I have served on the TV/Basic Cable Animation Contract Negotiations for decades and have co-Chaired these negotiations the past 3 rounds.
I communicated with our TV/Theatrical Negotiations staff at SAG-AFTRA a few minutes ago.
* TV/Basic Cable Animation is NOT impacted by a TV/Theatrical strike as TV/Basic Cable Animation is a stand alone separate contract!
* New Media Animation made for TV is NOT impacted by a TV/Theatrical strike!!
* Nickelodeon Animation is NOT impacted by a TV/Theatrical strike as Nick is a stand alone separate contract!!!
YOU MAY CONTINUE WORKING ON THESE ANIMATED CARTOONS!!!!!!!!
Animated Features ARE impacted by a TV/Theatrical strike and you may NOT work on an animated feature!
As I find out more regarding other vo contracts that might be impacted by a TV/Theatrical strike I will post that info.

Going by Bergen's statement, it sounds like the TFNation guests will be able to talk about the bulk of their work within the brand, which is good. Though TFTM was under a Theatrical AMPTP Agreement so presumably off limits.
Some of the early reports of the strike said the new season of The Simpsons would be affected. I don't know if this was misreporting of it being affected by the existing writers' strike or if it - and by extension surely some other cartoons - is covered by the disputed agreements rather than those that Bergen refers to.

Binned with the aim of selling it elsewhere. If the strikes run long enough, a full season of new Trek is going to be more valuable streamed than as a tax write off.
