It has been a long LONG time, at least the 2 1/2 years since the building work possibly longer judging by how surprised I was my current BD player had no optical out, since I last had the hi-fi *PROPERLY* wired up. But this afternoon I adjusted the shelves so the speakers would fit, rearranged everything and wired it all up.
Celebratory listen to Wish You Were Here (album) in progress :-)

I am disappointed that this thread is not about Steven Taylor's cuddly panda.

Not quite up to Hifi setup standards but I dug my Sony CD Walkman out this week when I realised it was the only non PC / DVD player option I had. Happily it still plays fine and the gumstick batteries are.... okay, there was only the slightest bit of corrosion on one or two contacts, but it cleaned up.
The external battery pack has a badly corroded battery stuck in the bottom and the plastic covering on the mains cable has split so Im not sure how safe that is. I only noticed after Id charged the batteries a bit so it does at least work.
But the inline remote still works too so its mostly good news.

As I said the other day I've recently rebuilt my hi-fi system. Since then I've been making my way through a number of CDs to give it a good testing.
Reached for Mike Oldfield's Return to Ommadawn tonight and discovered the shrink wrap was still on it. Oops.
Now I have listened to it, many times, but it seems only ever as an MP3 download on my player on trains etc. Since it came out in 2017 it does tend to suggest quite how long it's been since the hi-fi was last assembled.

Turned out to be surprisingly hard to replace the mains lead. Eventually found one with the right specs though. And today a repalacement battery pack arrived along with a supposed to be not working walkman, but it turns out it and the inline remote do work so thats a nice bonus. Oddly the remote doesnt appear to be the correct one for the walkman that came to day and it should have the same one as I mine, but it does work on that walkman, but not mine. Oh well.
