Whenever I go to a WH Smiths I say I am going to...WH Smiths. Why? I mean, before there was a Smyths to confuse it with? Did you include the WH in case people thought you meant you were going to the blacksmith's? Martin

I remember when Sainsbury's was called J Sainsbury, but everyone just called it Sainsbury's, so they dropped the J.

I've always referred to it as "w h smith's". Technically it should probably be "Whsmith" though - in the same way as it is "Tesco" instead of "Tesco's". Although confusingly John Menzie I tended to refer to as "Menzies". I don't know why. This was in line with the standard pronunciation in Bridge of Allan and part of Stirling. The rest of Stirling, Fallin, Raploch and Cornton tended to call them "John Ming-is" and "Smuths" respectively. Accent's in the Central Belt can be very, very local.

Morning All!
It's Sunday - Praise the Lord.
Yesterday: Decent day, managed well in morning despite no lie in, nice lunch out and got myself home. Side fell off wheelchair while out in town! V tired and in a lot of pain in evening.
Today: Church this morning. 2nd of the final season of Endeavour tonight.
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight. Pray we stay protected from the virus.
