Pins made this point in the Pulse thread Thinking about preorder panic vs wait for sales, looking at Pulse this morning it seems to be mostly the Star Wars stuff that is selling out. The only recent Transformers item that has is Nova Prime (annoyingly). Also gone from IDToys which has also sold through on Toxitron Sideswipe (Pulse does) or Grimlock (not yet on Pulse) |

I'm not going to worry yet. Pulse seems fairly reliable for a couple of restocks, and Nova is one of the Amazon crew and isn't due there until October, so there will be some around.
ID are always low stock on this kind of thing because they're not technically supposed to have them. They seem to have a back door to get these things from.

I wouldn't hesitate.
Not sure if these are getting a UK distribution via Smyths but Sideswipe is one of the two 1 per case figures in the mixed cases and it seems that Jazz is the only solid cased figure.
Sideswipe and the likewise 1 per case Dead End will be the ones that go first.

Yeah, I'm only really after Sideswipe and Mirage from the Toxitron line, but things are tight before TFN. Not sure I can afford to jump them before then.

It's not necessarily a back door. A lot of American store exclusives are simply available through Diamond, unless a UK company such as Smyths is granted the UK exclusivity. Occasionally they're available through other UK distributors too. I look forward to seeing Diamond's weekly solicitations in the next day or two.

Given that it's Amazon, nobody else has offered them, ID are the only game in town that still imports and the inflated price I'd be surprised if it's Diamond that they're getting them from.

Had a bit of a deep dive into categorising the exclusives of recent years today, to see if I could spot anything about this year which has caused a particular problem in terms of quantity. By and large this year is very similar to last in terms of toys and who got what. If anything there's even slightly less this year.... so far. No small Walmart exclusive line, no non Buzzworthy exclusives for Target .... what were Target doing with that Red Cog last year? All the other Weapons pack in toys appear to be Pulse exclusives when you line them up. The BIG difference this year is timing. There's usually Wal*mart and Target exclusives, especially the Buzzworthy Multipack, around now, c the point the Commander & Titan hits, to tie in with the shelving layout resets that Walmart and Target do. This year we've also had the Amazon capsule hit at exactly the same time. Considerably larger in size and much more expensive. |

Aye, definitely bought more during the pandemic. But that was because even with a newborn baby, the fact that we weren't going anywhere meant I was saving so much money. And the fact I was on furlough with a reduced salary somehow hurt less than the current cost in living rises. Strange times...

Looking at Phil's table, Target exclusives (including Buzzworthy) are generally offered in the UK through Diamond. Some, if not all, of the Toxitron line; and at least the majority of Selects, though a few I ordered never turned up, possibly due to stock allocations.
I've also seen some of the Target exclusives and the occasional Selects offered through another toy distributor.

I should think if Star have Medix (ID do as well) it'll be on Pulse too tonight.
My immediate thought is to pounce as it's a Walgreens exclusive. But this isn't a character I have any affinity with or need for, and it's a so-so mould at best. It's a curio with no place in my collection, but a desirable exclusive. Hmm.

Though there were SDCC-announced Star Wars and Marvel figures on this week's Diamond solicitations, I was disappointed to see no Transformers. But I'm not going to read too much into it yet as there weren't any GI Joes either, so they could be listed next week.

I'd have money on ID's stock coming their usual back door route, which is always limited numbers. Star still have these on preorder which suggests UK stock is still to get beyond Pulse.
