GCSE results day
Jonathan got an 8 in Citizenship (GCSE) and an A in HPQ (Level 2 - GCSE equivalent)
I had to ask him what he already has: Functional Skills Level 2 Maths and English, an ECDL (Level 2), iGCSE Geography (Level 2) and a Level 2 Digital Music Production certificate
Well done Jonathan!
College enrolment tomorrow!

And thus, I have seen fifty years upon this Earth. The passage of time has weathered me and calls on me to don the mantle of wise counsellor burdened with years and wisdom... Ha! *hearty laugh* For what reason should I grow up! I refuse. *Henshin pose* Hold onto the delight and wonder of your inner child, in the face of all the world! Little Kid with Money, Galeforce Karl! *completes Henshin* Karl Happy Birthday Kaptain

Congratulations to both Karl and Jonathan! (I assume an 8 is good, we didn't get 8s in my day.)
I think that citizenship GCSE should be standard for all.

Citizenship seems to go in and out of being required in some shape or form. It was back in for Y11 at my school last year, which I'm sure reflects a wider wind in its sails. The kids always love it.

The trains and buses are on strike this bank holiday weekend so can't go anywhere anyway!
All I have planned are short (under 15 mins) strolls so I can be fine for work again next Tuesday. I do like my job and have missed it

Reshaping my plans for my Cambridge trip next week. Was supposed to be staying there three nights. But as there is no way to get back on the Friday, I may need to come back on the Thursday evening after day two at the Imperial War Museum. Ah well, a couple of nights in the Premier Inn, and finally doing the USAF in Europe museum and seeing the _other_ TSR-2 (I've been introduced to her sister at Cosford, so I am socially obligated to call on her at some point) will still make for an excellent weekend off.
And I can come back and watch loads of Super Sentai on Friday now, so that isn't a bad thing by any means!

Took the last of my summer leave this week. Brief break in London Sunday to Tuesday (saw 'Witness for the Prosecution' at London County Hall and 'The Pillowman' at the Duke of York Theatre). Then a few days back home, reading, gardening, dealing with some work e-mails, before back to the office next Tuesday.

Not that odd. Could still be covid and/or lowered immune system making you catch new things easily.
