Three reasons you should buy the Fantastic Four: Into the Timestream Epic Collection:
1) Start of the Simonson run. Some class art throughout when Walt's at the drawing board.
2) Death's Head, Yes ? Making what I think is his first Marvel US appearance
3) A reprint of the long out of print in colour Days of Future Present. If you're an X-Fan you NEED this because it contains the start of the "getting the team back together" post Australian Outback.
SUPERB volume. Buy it.

I will keep an eye out for it; the epic collections have started turning up at the local remaindered book store, got the cosmic Spidey collection for a tenner. Wouldn't have paid RRP, but am curious enough at that price to take a look.
Just finished vol 2 of the Valentino GOTG, top stuff. Not high art, but compelling and fun.

Oh that's a steal, well done. Not the worst Spidey stories either, the complete Acts of Vengeance/Cosmic Spidet!
Buy the Avengers one without a second thought, it's fab.
I need the Daredevil one if you see it at that price.

Not that I can see, but at some point it will be as part of Marvel's Epic Collection trade program.

Some of them appeared in the long out of print Avengers Visionaries/Legends George Perez volumes.
But yes, that big a gap will make an attractive target for an Epic Collection, especially with Perez's name on it.

A reminder to Martin, and others, that the Stark Wars Iron Man Epic Collection was published this week containing several of the TFUK Iron Man back up strips and the superb Armour Wars storyline. Amazon should have it in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks, I hadn't forgotten. I'll probably get it, but not 100% sure. I'm not a TF back-up collection completest, as I'm never buying Hercules...
If Stark Wars has any character profiles in the back then that will decide the issue.

Could well be, most Epics have some bonus material.
If anyone sees a copy in their LCS can they check?

Some Marvel Age material, covers etc based on a quick check of a mangled copy in FPE. A book on sale for only 2 days and buggered by browsers already. Gah!

Marvel Trades for the rest of the year are up on Amazon. As expected it's pretty solid Secret Wars Battleworlds stuff with a couple of nice Epic Collections though not as many as I'd like and no new Spider Man or Avengers :-(
Could be a cheap few months - hurrah!

For it to have The Gift in it, X-Men/Alpha Flight 1, I'm guessing this needs to be a 180s/190s collection which is mainly uncollected John Romita jr issues. Can't see it being MUCH later than 200 as that was collected in Ghosts a year or so back www.amazon.co.uk/X-Men-Ghosts-Marvel-Paperback/dp/078518449X/181, post Secret Wars-198 + annuals + X-Men Alpha Flight would be perfect Think Marvel need to up the release rate on their Marvel Universe epic collections to 2 a month.

Is there a regular release rate for that imprint? I hadn't realised the volume numbers were individual to the titles rather than the epic name overall. That's going to be one heck of a big collection eventually.

Wikipedia says: Uncanny X-Men #189-198, Annual #8; X-Men and Alpha Flight #1-2; Nightcrawler #1-4 Nice idea. Sort of half way between Essential and Masterworks.

I still can't see the Ant Man epic on either Amazon which is odd.
However the new Silver Surfer one is up which collects almost all the Marshall Rogers issues in colour is up for December. Potential trade of the year but with some stiff competition from the Scott Lang Ant Man book, the Iron Fist Epic (colour Byrne Claremont) and the John Rom Jr X-Men Epic.
I do think Marvel need to up the release rate on their Marvel universe epics. 2 a month. We've got just one Avengers Epic this year!

Read the Essential Iron Fist book. That's good squishy. My Iron Fist: Epic Collection is sitting here. It's effectively the above mentioned Essential but in colour. The only obvious things missing are the three Power Man/Iron Fist issues but they're in the PMIF Epic next month. You want to buy this. That includes you Martin! 70s Byrne/Claremont at their best.

For a while I've argued that there should be more Epic collection releases per year, 2 for each of the continuing titles. But it occurs to me they've missed a trick here: Have one of the releases as a random jump about the run like they're doing at the moment. But have the other release as a chronological one, moving forward from the point the Essential Volumes finished. We mentioned Mantlo's Hulk run be missing it's opening 20 odd issues: it turns out they'd Just reached the start of the Mantlo run (245) when the title was cancelled.

I'd definitely like to see more; feels like a shame to have got just the one Iron Man epic this year. There's quite a few volumes of that I fancy seeing in print.
Last night I finished Avengers: Behold the Vision, a great epic collection. I've never read any of those comics before, they've just sort of lived in legend for me as where x, y and z happened, and they are really, really good. John Buscema's art in particular is very strong here.
I then started on the Iron Fist epic; bit of a shift in tone from silver age Avengers (also written / co-plotted by Roy Thomas, early on!). Enjoying it so far.

Indeed! I was tempted to buy the MMW of that stuff when it was announced, but it was a bit pricy. Very glad to see a nice chunky, affordable epic.
