Some new Hachette listings show there's to be a Thor epic covering issues in the early 300s next year, among a few other interesting bits and pieces: www.hachettebookgroup.biz/search/publisher/?q=MarvelI'm glad there isn't too much though, as I need the budget for the MOKF Omnibus (and maybe the Byrne Avengers too). Made a start on the new Silver Surfer epic today, good stuff so far! -Jim

Thor Epic Collection
Runequest
Thor confronts a menagerie of foes, from Storm Giants and the Crusader to Graviton and the Lord of Darkness himself, Dracula! The battle for Asgard -the battle for life itself - is set when Loki and the war-god Tyr steal the Golden Apples of Immortality and unleash the Midgard Serpent. Thor, Sif and the Warriors Three must face a world-destroying menace and prevail...or age and die like mortal men!
COLLECTING: VOL. 12; THOR (1966) 320-336, ANNUAL (1966) 11; BIZARRE ADVENTURES (1981) 32
Aha! V11 is out already, a Kingdom Lost, and this provides the issues between that and the start of the Simonson run. The issues immeadiately preceding v11 are covered in previous trades whose names I will recall later...

Made a start on the new Silver Surfer epic today, good stuff so far! For my money the Englehart/Rogers Surfer stories that firm up the majority of the volume are the best Silver Surfer comics out there.

I'm both a fan of Englehart as a writer and Rogers as an artist, so it's great to finally get to read these.
I'm hoping the next SS epic will cover some Dematteis / Muth, there's some wonderful art in there.

There's some fabulous work with panel shapes and things flying between and out of panels on issue 1: can can tell Rogers had a bit longer to spend on it. It looks fab in B&W in the Essential but I've always wanted a colour reprint.

Started the Silver Surfer epic collection last night.
The Byrne/Palmer Surfer story looks far better and more Byrne like in colour but Palmer is trying his best to Palmerise Byrne's art and it's not a match made in heaven!
Englehart/Rogers Silver Surfer 1 is still great today! Looking forward to some more.
Wolverine Epic in the post. IIRC this is around the point where the repro in the Essentials went kaka.

The new Marvel Solicitations list Kraven's Last Hunt as getting a new TPB printing in August. Can't see it on Amazon UK, but good news if true as I want shot of my HB with the horribly recoloured art

Yup, I believe it's the last uncollected X-Men mini from the 80s(bar the rights hell X-Men Micronauts)
Looking for a good £16/£17 deal on this.
Incredible to think these JRjr issues have never been collected before.
I'm assuming the previous chronological volume would have Kitty Pryde & Wolverine in?

On the one hand having all the early Alpha Flight stories in one volume is great. One the other I already have them and the two X-Men/AF LS are a bit superfluous (How many times can you print the Claremont Smith LS?). Loose them and replace them with Machine Man 18 (which is getting traded elsewhere this year) and Marvel Two In One 83 & 84 and you'd have a better volume I think. Sensational She-Hulk by John Byrne: The Return SENSATIONAL SHE-HULK 31-46, 48-50 All the Byrne She Hulk not in the volume printed the other year. Result.

Black Panther Epic Collection v2: Panther's RageFANTASTIC FOUR (1961) 52-53, JUNGLE ACTION (1972) 6-24 Surely that's a mistake and should be volume 1, otherwise what would be in volume 1???

I really like the Epic volumes, just wish they'd hurry up and do more X-Men ones.

I honestly think they should up the release rate to 2 per year for X-Men, Avengers, FF, Iron Man, Thor, Cap & ASM. Avengers and Thor have got two volumes this year. X-Men: the next volume they need to do is the one prior to The Gift (12) as those JrJr issues have never had a paperback print. Neither have the 150s - Mid 160s. The Epic collection Wikipedia page thinks UXM v2 is due December.
