Those X-Men volumes take up the valuable slots that could be used for The Champions!

Away!
Although a Champions over the 2nd pre Uncanny X-Men collection would be a better option.

Masterworks Champions volume only just came out, so I doubt you'll see a softcover version anytime soon.

The latest Iron Man Epic Collection, Duel of Iron, is in stock as Wordery for less than £20. It's the follow on to Enemy Within. I hate to use the phrase "Trade of the Year", especially when Avengers: Under Siege is still to come, but that's been out before and this is almost all unreprinted stuff.
Looking forward to it's arrival!

The Iron Man: Duel of Irom epic collection showed up yesterday. Taking this one nice and slow because it has some of my favourite Iron Man issues in it, and indeed many of the ones I read first time out. Iron Man seemed to show up in the comics Dad brought home from work and I had ( marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Man_Vol_1#No._151-200_.281981_-_1985.29) 172 & 177 from the previous volume, 180, 183, 185, 186 & 192 from this and 196 from the next, plus 198, 199 & 200 from the UK Secret Wars. It was an early run bought in back issues and I'm so pleased to see it all traded now, even if the last few issues are only in Hardcover. Hopefully Volume 12, 196-214 & Annual 8, will follow next to complete the story and fill that annoying gap between vs 11 & 13 on my shelves. And because really good trades usually come along so rarely TWO showed up yesterday: I also got Star Wars: Legends Epic Collection: The New Republic v2 containing material from Star Wars Tales #12, 23, Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Leader #1-3 and Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron #1-16, Special. As I've said before those Rogue Squadron issues from the main series are blinding good once you get to issues 5, if you're a Star Wars fan PICK THIS VOLUME UP!

doesn't Silver Surfer volume 1 beat it by having literally zero?
I have a huge soft spot for this crossover and will probably buy it despite still having the original comics (most of them bought 10 years after the fact due to my limited budget as a teenager) and also the two trades. If only it were an omnibus!

You may have a tinsy point there!
On a related not I'm surprised Wolverine v1 doesn't have Claremont/Miller Wolverine, Kitty Pryde & Wolverine and Spider-Man vs Wolverine in it. I hope they'll show up in the relevant X-Men volumes though.
I hope when it comes to the X-Men crossovers they'll be sensible. Mutant Massacre doesn't *really* need any of the other issues, Fall of the Mutants DEFINITELY doesn't and you can read Inferno with New Mutants.
I've never read Operation Galactic Storm. I have the fear....

On the subject of Epic Collections with the least number of issues of the named title in, what's going to be in X-Men Epic Volume 4? Volume 2 takes us to X-Men #45 and we know Vol 5 starts with Giant Size #1 and then X-Men #94 onwards. I'd assume Vol 3 would be the rest of the original 60s issues [#46-66]. Going by the X-Men Masterworks it's likely to contain: X-Men #67-93 covers Marvel Team-Up #4 [X-Men], 23 [Iceman], 38 [Beast] Amazing Adventures #11-17 [Beast stories] Incredible Hulk #150 [Havok], 161 [Beast], 172 [Juggernaut], 180-181 [Wolverine] Amazing Spider-Man #92 [Iceman] Avengers #110-111 [Magneto] Captain America #172-175 [Banshee, X-Men] Defenders #15-16 [Magneto] Giant-Size Fantastic Four #4 [Multiple Man] Other X-character appearances during the reprint era which weren't in the X-Men Masterworks: Avengers #88 [Prof X] Shanna the She-Devil #5 [Prof X] Adventure into Fear #20 [Prof X & Cyclops in a flashback sequence over a couple of pages] Also, Phil, Spider-Man Vs Wolverine is going to be in Spider-Man Epic Vol 17 [Kraven's Last Hunt].

I knew SM vs W was in a forthcoming volume but couldn't remember which.
However, like X-Men/FF, which is in FF epic 17 All in the Family, and X-Men/Avengers, which is in Avengers epic 17 Judgment Day, I don't think that'll rule out them being in an X-Men volume too.

Trade of the Year?
Two real contenders:
Avengers Epic Collection 16: Under Siege
Collecting: Avengers (1963) 264-277, Alpha Flight (1983) 39, Avengers Annual 15, West Coast Avengers Annual 1
Fabulous book, and one of the best Avengers stories, BUT everything in it has been out before. So I think the winner is:
Iron Man Epic Collection 11: Duel Of Iron
Collecting: Iron Man (1968) 178-195, Iron Man Annual 6-7
Top, top story, best Iron Man tale for me and never reprinted save for the few issues leading up to 200. The vast majority of the run has now been released in paperback. V12 now please to complete the story and create a 5 book Iron Man run.

They weren't there last night when I checked! Defenders Ashes, Ashes looks like it contains #119 marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Defenders_Vol_1_119Since the previous volume, 7, goes up to 109 this will be 8 and will probably go up to 130 and the start of the New Defenders. Again. That's been Essentialled and had it's own colour trade. I'd have preferred the final 20 issues, which have never been reprinted, or a Gerber volume Hear of Darkness is Daredevil 278, so the wiki page reckons this is v14 following on from the Typhoid Mary v13 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Ultimate_Collection,_Complete_Epic_and_Epic_Collection_lines#Epic_Collections

They aren't on UK yet, just US.
V. happy to see the Nocenti Daredevil run continued; I haven't picked up the Defenders volume as I hear such mixed things about Dematteis' run.
I've been getting through some Epics lately; Wolverine v1 was great fun (and I wouldn't mind a v2 with the Byrne art run), also recently finished the second PM/IF which is pretty good until the end of Duffy's writing but then goes seriously off the boil and have almost finished the first Silver Age Captain America (top drawer Lee/Kirby). I have temporarily (or maybe permanently) abandoned Black Panther. There is some decent art in there but the writing is awful.
Also currently going through Power Pack Classic with Charlotte, which she is really loving (and me too, it's good stuff!).
