3 more Epics on Amazon.com: Star Wars Epic Collection: The Clone Wars Vol. 2 - Apr 3, 2018 Wolverine Epic Collection: Blood Debt - Apr 10, 2018 "by Steve Skroce and Rob Liefeld"
A search for Blood Debt brings up Wolverine 150, so this will be v13. Avengers Epic Collection: The Avengers/Defenders War - Apr 24, 2018 Probably v6. I reckoned this was something like 100-118, Marvel Team Up 5, Daredevil 99 and Defenders 8-11

Back then to my "predict the epic collections" project.
Assuming this listing is accurate, and I'm not 100% sure it is, that would make Volume 8 Avengers 129-148 and Giant Size 2-4. That's a big book covering both the original Celestial Madonna & Serpent Crown trades and the Coming of the Beast HC. I suppose you could loose the issue reprinting The Beast solo story at a push (136) ..... but it still looks big.
It would also make v 5&6 issues 77-114. V5 would be 77-97, the end of the Kree/Skrull war plus Hulk 140 which was in The Essentials. V6 looks a little light then at 98-114 plus Daredevil 99 which was also in The Essentials. Some Avengers Marvel Team up to bulk up he volume?
The volume before looking slim and the volume after looking big makes me wonder if the Wikipedia entry, which has been good till now, is correct.

From that point on I tried guessing volumes 10-14. During that period the 20 ish issues per volume, annuals count as 2 formula works pretty well: 10: 167-187 11: 188-204, Annual 9 12: 205-220, Annual 10, MTIO 75 (Avengers) now there's a problem, and I think it's either 13: 221-232, Annual 11, Amazing Spider-Man Annul 16, Vision & Scarlet Witch 1-4 14: 233-249, Annual 12, FF 256 OR 13: 221-235, Annual 11, Amazing Spider-Man Annul 16, FF 256 14: 236-249, Annual 12, West Coast Avengers 1-4 Either way the next volume looks like 15: 250-263, Annuals 13-14, FF Annual 19 There's more individual Marvel Team Up Issues (129 Vision, 130 Scarlet Witch, 142 Captain Marvel & 143 Starfox) and Marvel Two In One (92 Jocasta & 93 Machine Man) I'd like to see included but I can't see how to make them fit

I've tried extending the same approach to Spiderman but I just can't make it work. There's not enough space! I fall 22 issues short of bridging the gap. Even if I lost all 5 of the Spider-Man Giant Size which are in The Essentials - you can argue that they're effectively Marvel Team-Up. I suspect they've done this and some of the issues due for volumes 8, 9 & 10, concurrent Avengers v7, 8 & 9, which also look rather loaded, have shorter issue lengths. A similar problem struck my attempts at doing Captain America.
So does anyone know where I can get some good date on Marvel issue lengths?

Answers own question.... I've been using Mike's Amazing World of Comics for a while for it's month by month view: www.mikesamazingworld.com/features/newsstand.php?publisher=marvel&type=cover&month=11&year=1986&sort=alphaAnd clicking through to the issues I found the info there. Mike's also has a series view: here's The Avengers as an example: www.mikesamazingworld.com/features/series.php?seriesid=3986Which makes getting at the issues for a series much easier. For the Period for Avengers Epic 8 it starts out at 18 pages per issue then reduces to 17! So For Avengers 129-149 and GS 2-4 you're looking at 485 pages including issue covers, well within Epic Collection boundaries. Good good. After Epic 8 the issue count is a steady 17 pages till issue 200 If we go up to Avengers 192, the conclusion of a 2 part story, we get 488 pages. Avengers 211 would give us a volume 10 of 473 pages. We're into 22 pages per issue territory now, so the sums get easier. 211 is a good place to break a volume, the next issue is the team reset and we need to sneak annual 10 in before that. That makes me 9 issues up on my previous estimate which allows us to sneak in The Vision & Scarlet Witch limited series, their MTU, Captain Marvel & Stardfox's MTU, the Jocasta/Machine Man MTIO and WCA into following volumes

I love that website. It seems like every couple of years someone reminds me it exists and I get lost in it for a while, then I blank it from my mind.

If we're talking filling in the gaps in the Epics, I'd really like to see the next volume of Englehart's Surfer run. That first volume had some great stuff and left some unresolved plots.
Otherwise, more Moon Knight please!
And Englehart Cap.

I don't know, the Avengers/Defenders cover is a bit of a classic anyway - but given the character will be in Infinity War, it probably doesn't hurt to have him on the shelves! It's funny, I hate modern recolours of comics but I really like what they do with Epic Collection covers.

I have just finished New Mutants Epic vol 1, and it's pretty good overall. Lots of stuff I've heard about but never read here, for example Nova Roma which I've long been curious about.
I read the final four issues, the Magik miniseries, with my daughter. That felt kind of weird, it's not really stuff for a 6-going-on-7 year old but she absolutely insisted - I think she's quite attracted to this era of X-Men comics for all the central female characters. Anyway it's kind of grim, but she really didn't seem to mind.
Being off sick I am also rattling through Thor vol. 4, which is peak Lee/Kirby with Mangog, Galactus, Ego, The Recorder, et al. Beautiful.

Yup. Or did it automatically on a computer which ballsed them up. XL has a habit of doing that with ambiguous dates where dd and mm are both < 10
