OH Origin Bumblebee! I was lucky to be gifted this project after Warden moved off the team.

First up is a glimpse of my deco layout for the pack. Doing deco, as I’ve mentioned, is an art in itself and for bigger more complicated projects, is quite challenging. The time consumption is definitely a labor of love! You will also see some inconsistencies in color for the blaster and the jetpack on deco and back of pack. Since those parts were made from PA plastic they wouldn’t take the painted silver ops. But some essential black peices were also in the mold so I couldnt make the mold silver.(Bummer)But I bumped up the color on the rods because it was really difficult to get the same glow as the golden rods that appeared on the episode. I went back and forth in production trying to add as much pearl fleck in the mold as possible to give them the cool looking shimmer.

The next drawing was done by @ken_christiansen_art (🤔) but I’m not certain as Warden kicked it off before me. The image to the right of it is Kunihiro san’s block model CAD drawing. I made some adjustments as I usually do, and we went back and forth on a couple different things.

I ended up cutting out the golden rod holder on the jetpack, it just compromised to much aesthetics for a nice looking jetpack. I also dipped back into episode 1 to really study this cybertronian BB here. The fun and somtimes difficult thing about old cell animated cartoons is the inconsistencies they contain. Im a stickler on head sculpts, so I really wanted to give BB the plump clean face he rocks in the episode, even if it is a lil on the thick side. Also got rid of the grid pattern he had on his cheeks which I think was a detail from the Siege series.

The rest of the images are more for all of you to weigh in on. I used to love to see my painted models on back of pack, but the digital renders are cool too, do yall have a preference?

Lastly, the instructions! Anyone have any feedback on those, layout? Colors? Helpful? Confusing? Better to have online transforming videos? Share your thoughts pwease ☺️

In case anyone was startled by a loud noise around 2300hrs last night that was the Conjunx seeing these pictures...

This is of course great. Which is possibly a little hypocritical since I'm usually the guy who's fed up with Hasbro focussing on the Sunbow animation models all the time, but this one has at least not even been attempted before, so I'll give it a pass. Even if it does raise the question of why this wasn't what they did in Siege in the first bloody place. But yeah, this looks great - even if it does look like it'll be a panel-forming nightmare to get into that alt-mode.

The big question now is: When can we expect Big Red?

Honestly? This should be a near universal feature.
I mean I don't expect them to go out of their way to put it on every toy? But there have been a ton of figures recently that could have easily had a 5mm port on the opposite side of their flipping wrists, that would not have added any real cost to the toy, or compromise the transformation.
Character accuracy be damned, if there's no practical reason not to include them, then they should be included.

All of the ones showed in the pilot had more reuse potential than a lot of what we actually got.
Jazz here could have been repainted or retooled even into the datsun trio.
A less faux-kibbled version of this could have been retooled into earth mode Skids.
Bumblebee could have been retooled into "earth mode" Cosmos.
I honestly forget what I had in mind for a Wheeljack reuse.

At least if they weren't so obsessed with making their robots look like they had earth vehicle modes, that is.

I have no idea how that Jazz turns from that robot to vehicle. I genuinely boggled.

Like flapjack bumblebee, it's a shellformer, with all the vehicle mode stowing away on the back, while the vehicle parts on the robot (namely the chest) being faux kibble.

I want this one in Actionmaster colors.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Yuya Onishi from Takara Tomy and man o’ man, what a treat! The proportions, the transformation, the special features, the articulation, the look 👀!!!! Ooooowweeee mannnnnn! Can you tell Im excited yet?!?

If by chance you don’t know, this cybertronian alt hover vehicle mode was featured in episode 1 of the G1 animated series. He is zooming around on cybertron and he unexpectedly zooms by the communication towers which you come to find out is Soundwaves cybertronian mode, whom is also featured in this glorious photoshoot of fun!

Lets get into some deets shall we. The grappling hook accessory can pop onto either folded in fists, 5mm holes and posts of course, there is storage for the grappling hook underneath the hovercar. Not featured here but the front of the hook can be placed on the end of his g1 styled blaster barrel. Both of his booster jets in alt mode are also blast effect compatible. Scale is perfectly sized with good ol bee, and his blaster does fit on top of the hover whip.

The deco break out worked out like a jazz flute solo, someone, please, call Ron Burgendy ,because this figure is just pumping sweet melodies in my ears. I mean, who doesn’t have love for Jazz really?? I was obsessed with his commercial interlude sequence in the g1 animation series and the design of this bot is just so solid!
