Morning All!
It's FRIDAY!!!!
Yesterday: Day wnt OK, Liz home safe, very nice Chinese for tea so she didn't have to cook.
Awake till nearly 3, weather pains and head got thinking. Awake again 6:45
Today: Surveyor friend coming with us to look at Liz's Mums and help us think about what we need to do. For All Mankind 409, how can we be that far through already? If it goes like previous years everything will go VERY wrong this week.

Hard to say. I thought all the Christmas day leftovers had been eaten, but now suspect one stuffing ball had survived and had just, just passed the do not eat threshold when I did infact eat it. I have a bottle of cider I was gifted for my 40th birthday which has been unopened if you are brave enough...

Morning All!
It's Saturday !!!!!
Yesterday: Awake till 3 and awake again 6:45 doesn't make a great platform but omehow made it through day, did really well in morning after such a bad night. But didn't sleep too long in the afternoon and my tummy went wrong, which could well be the source of the sleep problems in the previous 24 hours.
BIG lie in, thank you Lord!
Today: As little as possible. TMUK Zoom tonight.
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT, tummy and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight, getting off to sleep promptly. Pray we stay protected from the virus.
Have a good day, stay safe & well.

Always nice when Yodel don't turn up all week. They then say they are coming on Saturday (tracking does not allow for a change of day or location) but leave a 'you weren't in' note rather than knocking on the door. It's a big heavy book. Why not deliver it?
Grrrr.
Can't have been the usual Yodel courier as they are always great.

I have finally found at website that will actually sell me train tickets from here to somewhere other than Euston. Which means I can actually buy tickets to go and visit my parental units near Chichester. (National Rail will only allow me to have tickets which go through Euston and London Victoria, which for various reasons I am not anxious to do - trying very hard to keep my exposure to large groups of infection vectors to a minimum.
Next hurdle - because I won't have had lunch when I get down there (I'm unclear how my mother thinks I'd be able to eat lunch on a train, seeing as it is a bit large to go through the pores of an FFP2 mask...), Mum wants us to go out to lunch... I'm not sure I'm entirely comfortable taking that risk, given how busy anywhere they'll want to go will be... Hmmm.

Despite Swindon doing its best to shut down the Great Western Mainline again, I have made it from Cardiff to Bristol and back this weekend for a final family Christmas do. My return journey necessitated travel from Filton Abbey Wood rather than Bristol Parkway.

Pinwig is enjoying the panto at the local arts centre. First time they've ever done one and they've put in a great effort. The audience isn't as quiet as usual, but I think we can allow that.

If you've got an entirely quiet audience at a pantomine then something has gone rather wrong I'm inclined to say...
Just had a chat on the 'phone with my sister, and I am reminded once again that having a sister who is somewhat smarter than one-self is truly priceless. It's like having all the best bits of having a good Executive Officer - advice, an alternate perspective and a reality check on your choice of actions - but combined with still getting to do all the good stuff like lead away teams yourself. Smarter siblings, everyone should have one.

A run, some footering about and not much else. Decided on a lazy day (run aside).
Start my condensed hours at work tomorrow - Mon-Tue, Thur-Fri - longer shifts but off every Wednesday. I will take that, unless I hate it in which case I will swap back.

The rules for asking for condensed hours at work are...not opaque. I had planned to chance asking for it due to study but life meant I had to ditch that so no point now.

Got out for a walk this afternoon, breaking in the new boots. They are the same size as the pair I have in Swindon (10s), but fit much more loosely than those. Very odd. Spent the rest of the afternoon working away on a model kit (Alus Core Gundam, which now only needs the head, and then I will need to work on the Alus EarthThree armour from the kit, so that can be combined with the Core Gundam. Thinking I might switch things up next month, and build one of the Plutine Armour kits that I have waiting to ship from HLJ, give that to the Alus Core Gundam and put the Alus EarthThree parts into their Storage Mode. I think the purple and grey of the Alus Core might look interesting combined with the black and white Plutine armour. See what it looks when the Plutine kits get here I guess).

Post by legios on Jan 8, 2024 22:45:13 GMT
Nope. That should read Shrewsbury - as a spare set of my boots are there. The danger of typing one place whilst circumstances cause one to also be thinking about another. Especially when they are both filled under the same letter in the mental rolodex...
