Wow. How did that series survive when so many bit the dust!? I wonder if it was a proper Mike Reid episode.

As THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN winds down to its Frieberger demise on Legend TV, attention now turns to THE BROTHERS on Talking Pictures TV.
Exciting adventures of a 70's hauliage company!!! Loads of folk who have been in Doctor Who! Deadly Dudley Simpon on music!
Older TV was better!

Coo. I could go for that. Except... 92 episodes?!
Hmm. I'll return for series 4 when Colin Baker shows up. Maybe.

It's only on once a week (Mondays at 8pm) and also available on their online catch-up service so manageable. Just started this week.

Glyn Owen is indeed a legend. Not least for his pivotal role as Jack Rolfe in Howard's Way.

Episode 2 of THE BROTHERS. Never has a multi-cam boardroom meeting on video (with one film insert when someone looks out a window) been so thrilling!
Anne is furious that her husband is staying on the board. What will she do now??

This week in THE BROTHERS! Old Mrs Hammond has a very polite but savage formal meeting with her dead hubby's widow!
Meanwhile at the hauliage company, everyone is on video until they go outside where they are suddenly on film.
Ann continues to scheme to get her husband to quit the company to go back to being an accountant! But will she have it off with Dodgy Mutton-Chops Man?
It's the 70's, so no-one wears seatbelts when driving.

I did see five minutes of this. I've cunningly set the TV to the talking pictures channel so it comes up when it's turned on.

Tension this week in THE BROTHERS. Ann tries to seduce one of the other brothers!!! A tense golf game on film!!! So exciting that the bothers then had to transition to video inside for some booze.
Everyone drinks constantly in the 70's.

I know, I know. I should be watching but it's a question of where I fit it. I've got a mission on my hands getting Dock Green up to date as it is.

I'll let you know when Season 2 starts airing. You can jump on board then.
I am worried though. Glyn Owen is by far the best thing about the show but I gather he departs after season 1 and his character is recast.

I'd have thought Howard's Way would be a good shout for Talking Pictures eventually. The complete series DVD set has been around for years. I'd have bought it if I thought I stood a chance of getting through all six seasons.

I don't think there's an easy way unless it's on Britbox. Seasons 5 and 6 are on UKTV's catch up service and I see the very first episode is on YouTube, but aside from that the DVD release is probably the only way.

Thinking about it, Howard's Way is a haven for Doctor Who guest stars. Obviously the lead character Tom Howard is played by Maurice Colbourne, but you've also got Stephen Yardley, Edward Highmore and Kate O'Mara in the cast.
