So I watched the first two episodes this morning.
Definitely captured the tone of the old series, but looks much better, I do miss the treacly voice of the OG Magneto, but as he is no longer with us, perfectly understandable.
Cliffhanger endings to each episode gets plus points from me, and the soap opera feel of the X-Men comics is if anything better captured here than in the original show.
Shall keep watching.

SO GOOD!!! Cyclops was actually kinda cool. I like Wolverine's little canadian accent now, but it threw me for a minute.
Honestly, I think this might be what the original series wanted to be.

Episode 3 - didn't expect them to get that all done in 1 episode. The name reveal was fine if you know the lore, otherwise, faintly ridiculous.

They have rocketed through everything i thought would be the major season arcs, in the first three episodes.

It's getting a second series, I wonder if we get Onslaught then or Bastion and Operation Zero Tolerance.

Well, if we do, they'll be addressed and resolved in the first episode

Fantastic callback to the original series with some shocking dreadful Scottish and Irish accents for Moira and Banshee.

I really kinda feel like this is the show they really wanted to make back in the nineties.
It genuinely captures the same feel of reading the comics back then.

97, it's in the title.
It's a streaming service, so it'll be either 6, 8, or 12.

I thought this was a direct continuation though? I wouldn't have a clue what is going on. I've parked it until I finish the original show.

The only thing not really explained is Bishop's presence, and honestly that's not really a big deal.

I think if you're going to watch, then you should probably watch the series finale of the previous series. That will catch you up to everything that's really relevant.

Yep, that's pretty much all you need. Anything else is explained along the way and if you know X-men comics even a little you will be fine.

Not quite the ending I was expecting. {Spoiler}So we get The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix, and The Rise of Apocalypse (sort of) as the two thrusts for Season 2.
Interesting to see where Wolverine and Morph end up.
Thought we might have gotten an Onslaught lead in for this series, but unless they play it low key, for now it doesn't look like it. Possibly a Season 3 if they get it.

I'm not sure they'll bother with Onslaught as more than just a one off thing.
I think it might just be too big for them to pull off, with a lot of world building before hand needed to do, that doesn't quite exist yet (though they started to lay that foundation with all the cameos). Plus, where would they go with it? The entire point was a hard reboot of the non-X-Men marvel characters, to make it easy for new readers to jump in. That honestly isn't needed here.
I'm not saying they can't, or wouldn't take it into a new direction, just that it might be too ambitious for a ten episode per season show that until now, had no strong connection to the larger MCU, outside of Spiderman.
On the flip side, I'd like to see them take another crack at Age of Apocalypse.
