Not really, I just think it fits the Haslab 40th ethos more than Omega Prime does (Japanese, multiple figures), and a Powermaster Prime (Cab robot, super robot, and Godbomber power up, with a little Hi-Q/Ginrai figure, that doubles as a Western or Japanese character) that isn't a retool of MTMTE Magnus would fill the price point out nicely.
I'll admit that calling the Haslab ethos to be 'bespoke update of Japanese characters' is a bit of a stretch.

I wonder if they’re splitting it up into multiple releases so it can be big without having an insane one-off price tag?
24,200 JPY is quite a bit already, the trailer would probably more than double that, and that’s before you add on Godbomber.

Yep. I was quite excited by this one I first saw this, because Powermaster Prime will always remain one of my favourites - it was such an event back in the day. A new Optimus Prime toy (which is something less of a novelty these days)! Optimus Prime returns in the comics! I'll always have a fondness for this one.
However, that 24k yen is quite steep for just the cab. The inevitable trailer can only be at least twice that in cost again. I don't know if I want to spend upwards of £400 on an Optimus Prime, Powermasterpiece or not...

I'm sure I've said this before, but representing on screen appearance based on a toy design that was compromised due to the design limitations of the time defeats the point of the MP line.
The exposed super mode arms here are case in point. They should be using this opportunity to redesign the trailer to hide them giving us a version that solves problems with the original.
But as we know, MP has a much different ideology now to 15 years ago.

Aye - it's going to be somewhere in the region of £240. And it's in "Anime colours", too - whereas the single release is toy colours (like the reverse of what Missing Link did), so if you want toy colours super-mode Powermaster Prime that's going to be a sweet £360. Which is why I'm out. Also because I'm not digging how the super robot looks. Because aye, I'm also not that keen on slavish adherence to the animation model (even if that series was one of the better animated ones of the time). Ah well - money saved. |

This looks fine to me. Too expensive, but I'm not feeling the hate for it.
Curious if there's any explanation of what the MPG line represents, I assumed it was specifically for the trainbots until now.

I thought Jetfire had a normal MP designation? At least, I'm sure MPG-01-06 are the trainbots and Jetfire came out during that timeframe.
I didn't pay much attention because I never imagined I'd get one!

That seems a little bit harsh of them. But fine...if they don't want me to reproduce I'll just reinstance multiple forks from my backups and sleeve them in bodies I've got lying around. I think it I count the 'Komas I've got enough that we could have about fifteen forks of myself around in about forty-eight hours or so...as opposed to several decades to reproduce and raise them up to be a suitable heir to myself...Foolish Tomy, they banned the wrong thing... I'm really not sure about this to be honest. Ginrai is...ok... But Super Ginrai looks a little bit...flat... and bland. Perhaps these pictures don't do it justice but it isn't doing much for me, at least at the price point. I'm also not feeling the trailer mode of the Super Ginrai at all. It just looks...wrongly proportioned to me - the arms sticking up too high over the front of the trailer. They are doing a Masterforce lead character and I don't think I want him... That is a pretty pass we've come to... Karl |
