I suspect the timing has fat more to do with moves by some Tories this week to remove Sunak as PM. They can't do that now can they? Aha, he has outwitted them etc.

Yes.
He can't not stand as it would be a PR nightmare, there is no way to frame it, and he could't hold office if he wasn't an elected MP. What I can see happening is him stepping down as an MP after the dust settles on the election.

He probably has a job in California already lined up. -Ralph I'm sure he already has several incomes which were turned over to others to run in the interim ready to return to him. He also doesn't actually need to work per se. He could live very comfortably off the return on his existing investments for the forseeable future - before one even takes into account his wife's considerable wealth... Karl |
