Morning All!
It's Wednesday and I forgot to post yesterday's little update! First time in 4 and a bit years!
Monday: Day went well, Liz home safe. SDCC exclusives secured, plus a couple of others friends asked me to get. But missed my parcel delivery
Yesterday: Parcel arrived. L & J moved some stuff to the garage. Both didn't do much and did a bit too much to help and my muscles told me so in the evening.
Today: L out: swim, Mum & work. J at a thing at church. Home alone with my SDCC parcel expected.
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT, tummy and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight, getting off to sleep promptly. Pray we stay protected from the virus.
Have a good day, stay safe & well.

Had a brainache inducing day at work, but fortunately that is now finished. Now I need to clear up this place and square it away, and look at getting myself packed. Snagged a new suitcase from the charity shop a couple of weeks back - the one I inherited from my father is simply not viable to pull from here to the train station as it only has two wheels on one end.
This one is a rectangular shape of ABS plastic with a wheel at each corner of the bottom. Worst comes the the worst, I can simply ride it down the hill most of the way to the station like one of those verdamnt electric scooters. :-)

:-( Sorry to hear that. I hope it subsides soon.
I was having a rough afternoon of pre-convention anxiety, so sleep clearly wasn't going to be happening. So I've seen today in by watching the final Kamen Rider Decade movie. It look Decade my have delivered a Final Attack Ride to my anxiety too. Think I'll head to my bed shortly and get some sleep before I head through to the Premier Inn tomorrow afternoon.

Hey all.
Those of you who use Facebook and are having a friend request from Hero KF II. That is legit me.
To cut a story short, my original account was breached by something nasty and it was suspended/deactivated with no way for me to sign back in. I have appealed against it, but it will probably fall on deaf ears.
I still have every right to use the platform and its Facebook security that allowed this problem in the first place.
I put in 18 years of creativity and life documentation (family, births, deaths, cancer journey, Father Christmas events etc) into that social media profile and everything is just gone... It hurts, but I'm sucking it up and carrying on.
If you didn't get a request from me and want to re-friend/add me, go fo it. I can't go on a long friending spree, as the algorithm complains about it. Requests are very helpful.

Final (hopefully) anxiety attack of the week is starting to abate. Which is nice.
I kind of wish "the big one" had hit yesterday though. If I'd know I wasn't fit to work the toy-fu stall I could have leg them know beforehand. Instead of having to toss my cards in on setup day. :-( Ah well. Hopefully I may be able to catch up with some friends for a bit later on in the day. Salvage something from the weekend at least.
I'm going to miss working the stall, but like TFNation it nay just have grown to a size tag simply isn't for me. But it'll be fine. The Toyfu team are spectacular folks and I know that they are going to be amazing this weekend.

If you want someone to just sit with quietly Karl, I'll be in the panel room for most of the day. Looking from the back, I'm half way down on the left, just about to watch Matt do his panel.

Thanks, I'm actually back in my hotel at the moment (and couldn't get into the panel room ATM anyway due to not having a dealer pass or anything). Might catch up with you around the fringes of the convention at some point though.

It is what it is. I'm just kind of glad that it happened today. Better to realise before Saturday morning than to come apart during the heaviest trading hours. I'm going to miss it, but sometimes something ceases being "for me" and to borrow a figure of speech- that o k.

Absolutely, I'll be around into the evening. The Arden's a reasonable walk so I doubt I'll head back that way until bed time.

Ordinary day in work for me today, in the office from 7:15 to 16:15, with an extended lunch in town with a friend. Lots of closed roads in the city centre serving as coach parks for people bussing in for the Billy Joel concert. The man himself came in on the train ( www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cxe28npjemlo). Hope you had a good lunch Martin.
After a brief dip back into the Convention (realised I still had Nick's sharpies in my pocket) I went over to Resorts World to get an early dinner at Pizza Express. Probably a good thing, a second anxiety attack during dinner has wiped me out for the day. I know my limits, and have come back to the Premier Inn for a decaff coffee and Sentai. Probably going to do a little bit of the convention tomorrow, but I'm not sure that I'll stay for Sunday. Might call an early retreat on Sunday morning and write off the last night of the hotel booking. We'll see how it goes. I'm thinking that next year TFN might be a one day event for me. No harm in changing things up a bit every so often.

Today: J out at Grandma's, must remember to ge him to fetch the spare comic box. TMUK Zoom for those of us not at TFN or in the bar at TFN! Wish I was here but nowhere near up to it.
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT, tummy and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight, getting off to sleep promptly. Pray we stay protected from the virus.

Much better day today. Feeling a great deal better having properly let go of the idea of toy-fu volunteering. Still found the dealers room and the Hilton bar stressful though and minimised my exposure to either.
But I did bump into some folk I know, had a few quick chats and did a high-speeed pass at the dealer tables. One hinky Masterforce adjacent robot, one Legacy Evolution bot and two high-grade gunpla acquired. Importantly, four Sentai stickers from an artist friend in the Forge, and two charity fanzines acquired.
Went for an early dinner, GBK bacon and cheese burger, and got back to my hotel in suitable time that I can have a nice bath, and then early to bed!

Still found the dealers room and the Hilton bar stressful though and minimised my exposure to either. You're not alone with that. The Dealer's room totally overwhelmed me this morning, just overload. Great to see so many people enjoying buying, but I couldn't get near any of the tables so I evacuated back to the panel room.

Morning All!
It's SUNDAY - Praise The Lord!
Yesterday: Good day again, not as much done as last few days but still making progress.
Today: No church in the building today, we're meeting in a park which might be challenging for the wheelchair so I'm staying home.
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT, tummy and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight, getting off to sleep promptly. Pray we stay protected from the virus.

Yeah, it was not really my kind of scene at all. Sure, I've dealt with much larger crowds (at least an order of magnitude more folks at RIAT each year). But the difference between a large crowd in an indoor space, and a far larger crowd in an much larger outdoor space is clearly significant for my anxiety.
I did feel significantly better lurking up the back of the panel room for a couple of random panels. I think next year I will probably be spending a significant proportion of my convention day camped out at the back of the panel room. It will help that as I don't have a burning need to be buying toys I'll be able to afford to let the first couple of hours rush die away before I make a brief foray in there to hunt fanzines and stuff from the Forge.
Picking the Sunday to travel home worked surprisingly well though - despite my fears I didn't run into any rail-replacement buses or line works, and the biggest issue was that by the time we got to Coventry we were running 6 minutes early, so we had to hang on to let the train ahead of us clear the section!
Was very amused by how utterly non-plussed the young woman at the Premier Inn reception was when I told her I was checking out early. Just a sort of"huh" noise, a wave at the plastic container for door keys with a "juspu'i'inthebox". Honestly that was great - minimised how much either of us had to talk, and let me depart the hotel forthwith. More hotels should try the minimalist approach to customer service :-)

That's what I did this year. I tend to sit in the panel room and listen; it's always interesting. I didn't get as far as the dealer's room until midday and that was primarily to pick up zines from the TMUK table. It being everyone else is tied up with Toy Fu duties that's how the days go.

The news cycle has been so horrendous of late I have cancelled my Guardian susbscription and decided to limit my general news intake for a while. I usually pride myself on being well informed about current affairs but the relentless horror stories of late have affected my health. -Ralph
