Morning All!
It's Monday - 2024 Week 33
Yesterday: Planned to rest, ended up doing too much :-( Oh well.
1:30, bit later than recently, was very warm. VERY odd dream overnight about a friend I've not seen in nearly 20 years!
Today: Leading 8am and 10am then taking another load down to the garage.
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT, tummy and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight, getting off to sleep promptly. Pray we stay protected from the virus.
Have a good day, stay safe & well.

Was planning a nice long sleep-in this morning. So, of course, Vodafone decided to message me at 07:30 to remind me that my current credit runs out in three days time... I'm thinking that a nap later will be taken later on today in revenge.
Got a couple of days off, planning to spend a significant proportion of them napping, possibly interspersed with some cartoons and some reading of my current book.

Had one heck of a journey home, but I'm back now with all my TFN goodies in tow. It's going to be a good few days.

Morning All!
It's Tuesday
Yesterday: A game of two halves. Morning went OK, led the things I was down to do, J loaded the car and unloaded it into Grandma's garage, I went off for a ride in chair before lunch and then came home to eat .....
..... and straight after lunch my tummy went very VERY wrong with little to no warning. Functionally that was the end of my day. Bar a brief trip downstairs for somer porridge for tea and a yogurt & headsteam just before bed I stayed upstairswhere I could get to the bathroom quickly. Felt absolutely wiped out.
Today: I should be projecting at a funeral at church this morning. J was coming with me to do sound but I he'll need to do both jobs now. No zoom, songs easy straight through, there's a fixed plan, should be an easy gig from a tech POV and well within his capabilities. But I feel very bad for letting people down when I said I would do something.
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT, tummy and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight, getting off to sleep promptly. Pray we stay protected from the virus.
Have a good day, stay safe & well.

Was awake early than expected, so I figured I'd pop down to Morrison and get something nice for dinner. Got what I went in for, payed, tried to walk out...and that is where the fun started. Glass gates refused to open to let me out, other glass gates also refused to open. Tried the first set again. They still resolutely refused to open. Got grilled by the member of staff as to whether I had bought anything:- "Yes", did I have a receipt - "Yes", and that if I hadn't bought anything then the gates won't open. My first thought is...then what do they expect people to do if they go in and don't buy anything? Or if they haven't bought anything yet but need to get to the other side of the gate to use the public lavatory in an emergency?
I'm not blaming the member of staff, but the whole setup has very strong vibes of "prove you aren't stealing from us before we let you leave our store". Which does not endear the chain or its management to me.

That seems to be the way things are going these days. The Sainsbury's I've used over the years now has such an obstacle course to get out that I've started going elsewhere. They also recently ditched all bar three of their actual tills in favour of putting in more self-checkout ones, which never work properly and half of them are never open. Having to juggle bags of shopping while waving a receipt over a scanner to open the exit gate is thoroughly annoying.
Theft is a big problem for supermarkets; I have a friend who works for the local Waitrose who says that it impacts profits so much the store will be in danger of closing in the next few years. However, from the point of view of the genuine customer it's a complete pain in the arse.

I think that I might be switching a lot of my walk-in business to the Asda up the road to be honest. I'm sure that Morrisons intend the measure as a "hostile environment" for shoplifters. But unfortunately it is amounting to being a bit of a hostile environment for customers in general. Not fond of knowing that every time I go in I am playing roulette as to whether I am going to be able to get out, or whether I am going to have to be interrogated by staff before I can leave. (I'll admit that it didn't help that it triggered an aftershock of the anxiety this morning, but it annoys me when I am on an even keel as well).
Fortunately the rest of my day was much better - took a slow wander up the road to the cafe on the other side of the green space, and sat out in the sun with a cup of coffee and a couple of chapters of my book. Sure all they have as to a terrace is a couple of tables shoved on the pavement outside, so it isn't quite continental street culture, but you get to greet the occasional passing dog and their person, and watch the world go by. Rather restful and very much what I have needed to help get myself on a more even keel.
Which I'll need - back to campus and back to work tomorrow - I've been away for five calendar days, so if nothing else there will likely be a mountain of email to be triaged, as well as dealing with whatever has arisen in my absence!

Morrisons is probably just jittery as Alan Moore keeps doing magic in the freezer aisle.

I mean, that would explain why six freezer cabinets have been broken for the last four weeks right enough...

OK, clarification, I bought the windows and doors that formed part of the house. I have never bought windows and doors separate from buying a house. I have never had windows and doors installed.

The old double glazing was used in the shed and I had to make frames for those so technically ive installed full units.
Sort of.
Badly.

Morning All!
It's Sunday - Praise the Lord!
Yesterday: Didn't manage quite as much in the garage as I liked mainly due to a shelf hitting my head and the shelving bolts not coming out of the storage position in the new shelves terribly well for my hands. Did TMUK call in evening and my box of stuff from last week's TFN turned up.
Today: Church. Liz away tonight at a friend's house.
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT, tummy and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight, getting off to sleep promptly. Pray we stay protected from the virus.
Have a good day, stay safe & well.

turns out the longest I can sleep for right now is about 90 mins, that is how long it seems to take for the back of my throat to dry out and start to hurt.
I am not happy, no not one bit.
