I'm actually thinking quite the opposite and wondering if there's too many acquisitions threads and if the yearly stuff shouldn't be moved into "tell us about your new acquisitions" which feels a little redundant now....

When this thread started it seemed to me to be purely for a tally of acquisitions for the year; the 'tell us about' thread was for where new purchases were discussed. Because I don't tend to keep a tally on here, I still use the tell us about thread to talk about anything I've bought, unless it's something that's been out a while. In those cases I look out the thread for that specific sub-line.

I side with Doc and Pinwig. A case could be made for things you've already paid for but haven't arrived, and maybe even for active preorders, but adding stuff you have yet to buy, or things that aren't even for sale yet? That doesn't belong in the thread dedicated to things you've actually acquired this year.

I'll round up all the posts on this discussion and put them in their own thread together - the complaints are spread over multiple threads. As I said a previous time this came up doing "something" with acquisitions had been on my mind

I definitely think Phil might be overthinking this. Pinwig is correct, all that's needed is a new thread for Phil and anyone else who wants to keep track of what they've bought but not received/been released yet.

It would actually be quite useful. Because Phil is always on the ball with what's coming and usually buys *most* releases, it could act as a useful reminder of what's coming up in release order. I do that myself in my own spreadsheets.

Phil has also been bothered by the conflict between the acquisitions thread and the count threads. They both seem to be serving a very similar purpose and am wondering if we need to merge the two.
I'm also aware that putting incoming stuff in the acquisitions/count threads only seem to bother two people so before I change anything there I want a wider view
Whatever we do it'll be me that organises and polices it.
I am also aware that my head is not in a good place this week due to moving stuff round, lack of sleep impending moves and anniversaries so want to be sure before I do anything

I admit I dont really use the year thread, but as Pinwig said theres a clear purpose to both threads.
They work. Dont over think it.
Create a preorders whatever thread. If it gets used, great, if it doesnt it will sink away until Ralph spams it in a few years time.

As (more than two) people have said just leave it all alone and let the two threads serve the purposes they have done for years.
All it needs is an additional preorders/incoming thread which as Bogatan says will live or die on its own merits.
