The goggles are probably an item you can equip in Monster Hunter. But I checked the MHW wiki and the only goggles I could find don't look quite so stylised. Maybe from an earlier game, who knows.

I don't think they are actual goggles. I just think they are a detail of his head that looks like googles - both in the fiction and in the toy they are just their for the look, and it amuses me.
There is a precedent for them in Transformers fiction though - Hot Rod has a magnifier that drops down over his optical sensors in Transformers: The Movie.

I don't like that either. Thankfully the toy back in the day did not have goggles.
I passed on Ectotron and Gigawatt because they had googles.
I deeply hate goggles on robots. It's right up there with glowing eyes on robots in cartoons. Utter nonsense!

Whereas robots that pretend to be cars and jets is the height of serious sci-fi.

Do they not have need to protect delicate and sensitive optics in bad conditions, just like we do?
Is it not easier to throw out and replace a ruined set of goggles, after a sandstorm, than it is to undergo a medical procedure to repair/replace your optics?
I don't see an issue here.

Their eyes aren't organic. They already are covered. No need for gogggles!

Constraints of physics require that eyes aren't necessarily flat onto a face. The goggles.may be for a separate vision function. I thought you knew science, chum!

Maybe they can? There's research into self-healing "glass" in the real world, for example.

According to Digimon, wearing goggles on your head is the hallmark of a leader.
...i would be way more into this guy if it were a digimon.

All this talk about goggles, but those aren't actually goggles. They're a ratchet/prowl-like helmet crest designed to look like the raised face guard of a knight's helmet, and taper off into dragon horns on the side.

They look like goggles to me, unless they are Attack Eyebrows.
