The Douglas Adams theft in the first few panels is rather obvious. So far, so banal. Not as arse-clenchingly bad as the previous Timelines but that was only five pages.

I liked it. The stuff this year has been much more enjoyable than previous. Im not saying its great, but compared to the on going club comic its fun. Plus it has SLudge and Siren, tw oof my childhood favourites.

There are two things that bug me a little about Forrest Lee's writing style: Firstly, his scripts leave a lot to be desired and use too many "Americanism's" for lack of a better phrase. Too many of his character's sound the same, as in, they're a lot like typical American teenagers. Secondly, some of the cameo's he include's seem a little forced and a bit fanwankey. I don't mind a nod and wink to the fans every so ofter, but trying to crowbar in certain references and names to insinuate they're part of a huge overall plan get's a bit annoying. It's a little reminicant of Dreamweave, and that's worrying. Still, it's not all bad. His plots and overall ability to tell a story are improving. I agree with Andy that the Timeline's stories have been improving in recent times and are better than the bi-monthly club comic.

I am sure Forest Lee is a lovely human being and very good in his other job writing copy, but when it comes to craft I think he's the most terrible writer to ever work on Transformers comics.

I'd forgotten all about them. The only thing that crossed my mind when Forest Lee and Timelines were mentioned were Pat Lee and Dreamwave. Stan Lee is indeed a genius in the world of comic books and its only messrs Pat and Forest that have brought shame on the Lee name in this department.

Thanks for posting this thread. I'd started to wonder if TF Timelines Feat. Nightbeat would ever come out... but seeing those pics gives me hope. I don't doubt the writing to shockingly bad but at least we have nice pictures to look at. Go at it with low expectations then you won't be disappointed (much). |

I don't think it's fair to compare Forest Lee with Pat Lee. Forest, as far as is known, is just a chap who writes comics for Fun Publications, the quality of which depends on your taste. Whereas it's a matter of public record that Pat Lee has repeatedly failed to pay people working under him and has claimed other's work as his known. Check the archives of Lying In The Gutters for details.

A bit of Tippex and a little creative imagination and a Fun Publications comic might be the most fantastic comic in TF history. |

Stan Lee was born Stanley Martin Lieber and he didn't change his name officially to Stan Lee until many years after he created Spider-Man and co, so he gets a Get Out Of Jail Free Card on a technicality anyway.  Personally, I don't like Dairylea. |
