To me, this just reflects the fact that any comics property needs to be given a high profile shot in the arm every few years and knowing this I think it was slightly naive of IDW to release the comics so slowly and to let Furman plan so far ahead.
But, time to move on...
All Hail, well it sounds interesting, but I can't help but wonder if it truly has the legs to last 12 issues. Has anybody read any of this new writer's previous stuff?

I'm curious about this series I must admit. I'm quite looking forward to the fact that it has a new writer on it, it'll be good to have a different voice to Furman's for a while. Diversity if a good thing. (Actually, after being disappointed with parts of Furman's recent Transformers output a new writer actually makes me more likely to pick it up).
As to whether it has the legs for twelve issues, who can tell at this stage.

I'm not too sure about this one. A new writer did no favours to stories such as Megatron: Origins and I can't see it lasting 12 issues without the plot falling apart before mid distance.

A year long series? Ouch!

On reflection, it may work if they broke the story into distinct chapters.

When you've got a story about all-out war for the planet against Decepticons with little Autobot assistance, I think you can happily manage 12 issues.

All I ask is enough content for 12 issues and not something padded out to fit 12 issues.

I'd be saddened if they felt they needed to pad when given a plot like this.

Sounds like a cross between Rhythms of Darkness, and DC's 52+One Year Later.
Wonder what Furman's going to be up to after Revelations then?

Possibly a titanic return to the Wallace and Gromit comic.

This is one of the problems with so many versions of Transformers, in my head when humans have to fight the Deceps it's a complete non-event. But it's true, given what we've seen of human / bot interaction in this universe, this story should have the legs for 12 issues if done properly. Having just recently been Hiroshima, I really hope McCarthy does a good job of conveying the horror of nuclear war if that's what it comes to for the humans.
And actually, if the Earth is devastated in this maxi, that might explain why it wasn't at the end of Devastation, which is kinda what I always expected.

I can't see the Decepticons as-is having the firepower to truly defeat Earth openly.
I can see them using strategic open strikes and careful use of facsimilies to bring Earth to its knees - a few devastating attacks on US soil and a few assassinations, and good ol' Senator Holt could end up as President on a Stop The Decepticons platform. And when the United States of America is a Decepticon proxy nation, well...
Also, what happens if the Decepticons just turn up in Saudi Arabia, briefly conquer it, and plunder some of the oil reserves? They'd never hold on to the country, but with the sudden destabilisation of the entire Middle East, global recession and oil shortages they wouldn't need to...

I'm guessing that a lot of the subdefuge will be out the window with the whole Sixshot rampaging through Florida, Ark 19 crash, Reapers attack on 'Cons base etc.... I expect that some of the facsimiles will come in to play, especially Senator Holt. I also expect that some more 'cons will be called to Earth due to what seemed like the semi (if not total) permanent sidelining of the Battlechargers and the implied abduction of Sixshot by Galvatron. We'll probably see the reintroduction of Soundwave, Ravage and Laserbeak to the ranks, and I'd love to know how thy'll bring Shockwave back into the mix, as his knowledge of Super-Energon would give the 'cons a massive advantage over the limited Autobot presence.
Speaking of the 'bots they aren't really that outnumbered if all the Dynobots are brought back into action add in HunterStreaker and Hot Rod and you've got a team of 7, while the 'cons including Soundwave et al., Shockwave and possibly Skorponok only number 11 12 (nearly forgot Ratbat).

I don't know, I think the bots should be in for a very hard time, the dynos were given a bit of a pasting by Shockers all on his own. Or was that just first issue superpowers?

And the Decepticons can almost certainly call in reinforcements.

I'd definitely be inclined to say that Shockers will be much more powerful than those left behind so even if they have a numbers edge, they won't be as powerful.

Hmmm. Masterpiece Starscream/Skywarp derived forms on the there jets there. Which suggests "not -quite F-15" alt-modes.
Arts not really my cup of tea to be honest.
Does anyone know, is this actually in the same continuity as the "tions" stories?

It's been confirmed as being in continuity.
So I dunno why the Decepticons have changed their alt modes into jets that are no longer in use, aside from writer/artist aesthetics.

So I dunno why the Decepticons have changed their alt modes into jets that are no longer in use, aside from writer/artist aesthetics. Actually, they haven't changed them for retired aircraft. I'm fairly sure the grounding order has been lifted on most of the USAF's F-15's (and never applied to the -E models at all). I think there are only between one and two hundred that are still tagged to not fly. They actually have better disguises in "All hail Megatron" than they had in "Infiltration". Which amuses me somewhat. Ta for clarifying that it is in the same story continuity. The very different character designs did make me wonder. Karl

Those Seekers look cool. Gosh I love Seekers.
I'm becomming very excited 'bout this story. Something like this has never been done before. Humanity at large not only aware of the existence of, but under the heal of, the Decepticons, with the Autobots nowhere to be seen. Hope it lives up to expectations.

I'm hoping Scorponok does an Animated!Megatron on Earth.
"Oh hello not-yet-conquered-nation, I'm totally an Autobot and my Headmaster technology can ensure your nation isn't conquered & Megatron is defeated! You can trust me!"
Leading to two Decepticon Overlords with big armies occupying a half of Earth and having a war for both it & the Decepticon Empire.
(K-IDW footage of the Autobots fighting Sixshot and the witnesses in Brasnya mean governments should know the Transformers have two factions, after all)

I expect Simon is working on big events for next year to tie in with the 2nd Movie pre comics [follow on from the Starscream one this year] then big events for the core comics. Maybe have 2 titles running at the same time.

With Grimlock now active and all of the Dynobots on Earth in one way or another, has anyone thought that the Decepticons could face some resistance from the Dynobots in All Hail Megatron?

They will, that was given away by Simon Furman and Steve Bucellato's Mosaic one-pager a while back now.
