One reason why this movie great:
At the centre of the Earth, Doug McClure, a wench and Peter Cushing are edging along a perilous ledge, a whole two feet above the studio floor. They are escaping from the lair of the evil slave folk who speak in reverb. Suddenly, down below, appears a frog monster!
FROG MONSTER: RARRRRRRRRRRARARARRARAGH!!!! PETER CUSHING: Oh dear!
The frog monster breathes fire!
PETER CUSHING: Oh my! Oh dear oh dear! FROG MONSTER: RARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHH!!!!
Peter Cushing pulls out a bow and arrow, seemingly from his ass. He fires arrows at the frog monster!
FROG MONSTER: RAAAAAAAAAAAAARRARARARRAGH!
The frog monster explodes!
PETER CUSHING: Oh my!

I must give that a watch some time. I have a soft spot for classic B-movies that are unintentionally funny.

Oh it's a terrible film, but a great terrible film. You can't go wrong with Peter Cushing using an umbrella to fend off an attack by a slow-moving bird dinosaur monster which goes "RAAAAAAAAAAARRGH!" a lot.

Doug McClure starred in many dodgy movies and all of them are appriciated these days for various reasons. They fall under the catagory of 'so bad they're good'. A list of his films can be found here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_McClure

The Land that Time Forgot is a particular favourite of mine. -Ralph "Land.." is quite fun. The sequel....not so much in my opinion. Karl

I have never seen it but have wanted to since I was a nipper. I recently learned it's on DVD. I may give it a spin at some point.

I saw 'The Core' (2002) for the first time last night, on Channel 4 - a strong candidate for most implausible science ever in a serious science-fiction film.

It was indeed gloriously silly.
