"Yes, we're coming back!!
Just to let you all know that we'll be announcing the date for Auto Assembly 2008 hopefully by the end of the week!
We'll be back at the Clarendon Suites for the third time and it will be in July or August next year and for all you sports fans, don't worry - it will miss Euro 2008 and the Olympics!!
We do have a list of voice actors in mind and we're aiming for the biggest comic guest line-up EVER at a British convention!"

Jolly good.
Whether I will attend or not will depend entirely on what my employement status is at that time, about which I have no idea currently. But good to hear there will be a UK con next year.

Good to know! I'll... probably still be at Toys'r'us at the time. Even if I'm not, I'll make the necessary arrangements. I shall be there.

Another Auto Assembly. Good news, I did have a good time at the last one. I shall have to see what my financial situation looks like in the New Year as to how well placed I am to go, but I shall make tentative plans to attend.

I'll hopefully make it along next year. It all depends on whether or not I go to BotCon but good to hear we'll get a con on this side of the pond.

Think it's fairly safe to say I'll be there... by then, I should be living even closer to the Clarendon than I do now! Mx

I'll totally try to make it this year...
Having said that I've been intending to go since it started...
I'm expecting to be free to visit Birmingham about that time of the year anyway.

Just thought I'd let you all know that bookings are coming in at an astonishing rate this year. We've only had bookings open for 9 weeks but we're already about to hit 100 pre-registrations!
While that may not seem a lot, it means we're well on target to smash the Auto Assembly (and European) attendance record, especially at the rate they are coming in and that's WITHOUT taking into consideration the last minute rush we get in the final 6-8 weeks!
One thing that means is that there is a VERY strong chance that Auto Assembly 2008 will be a TOTAL SELL OUT from pre-registrations alone so I'd strongly recommend that if you're planning on coming along, book up sooner rather than later!

I'm still in two minds whether to turn up for this or not despite being closer to the venue than most of the people on the Hub. I'll have to check on what buses are running at which times near me before I make up my mind.

No idea if I'll be able to make it. Just no idea what I'll be doing in August or if I'll be able to afford it.
I hope to go, though. More for the social aspect than for the plastic robot toys!

From the AA website FAQ:
Can I pay on the door or do I need to pre-book?
You can pay on the door BUT we do have an upper limit of 550 places and as we have had a "gap year" there is increased interest for Auto Assembly 2008 so we would recomment pre-registration.
When is the cut-off date for pre-bookings?
The cut-off date is likely to be about 14 days before the event - this will give us enough time to produce packs and tickets, and to ensure that all payments have cleared into our bank account in time.

I might be able to make it. There's a National Express bus running from near where I live to the Digbeth area of Birmingham which isn't all that far from the venue. I'll have to book the bus tickets in advance though.

On a related note I've noticed a general trend of female fans at Transformers conventions being hotter than those at general sci fi collector fairs. A pity I wasn't one of those gents who got to see that tattoo one Transforce.

Down boys!
I'd say in recent years the number of female attendees has gone up. Don't worry though the TF fanbase in the UK is generally harmless and judging from previous cons likes to be near the bar as often as possible!
