Things are moving along at a blinding pace already for Auto Assembly 2008! No sooner have we announced the convention, that we're now able to announce our first guest!
We are pleased to announce that once again we will be joined by comic artist Simon Williams who will be making his fourth appearance at Auto Assembly. Simon has recently started working for IDW on some of their Transformers titles and doing some work for SFX magazine and is hoping once again to work on one of our exclusive postcards.
Also joining us will be Lew Stringer. Lew's work will be known to fans of the original UK comics published by Marvel when Lew wrote and illustrated the "Combat Colin" backup strip that appeared in the comic. Lew will be making his first and long-awaited appearance at Auto Assembly in 2008!
As well as that, we've also managed to arrange for the return of Andrew Wildman (I'm still waiting for Simon Furman to get back to me!) and our FOURTH confirmed guest so far is IDW and Titan colourist Liam Shalloo who will be joining us for his first ever Auto Assembly appearance!
As always, all of our guests will be appearing subject to work and personal commitments.
And yes, I'm working on more...
Simon

Have you asked Nick Roche yet?

No comment about Combat Colin I've sent Nick a message through here and we'd love to add him to the line-up!

I think I've probably either emailed most of the major UK comic guys or they're on my list to contact! Jeff's actually been hoping to have attended Auto Assembly since 2005 but hasn't been able to because of personal commitments which is why we've never been able to announce him!
*waits for looks of surprise on everyone's faces...*

I assume you've invited or will be inviting Steve White?
I'll be glad to see Staz there, after he was scheduled for this year's aborted Transforce.

Any chance of getting someone from Hasbro in ? I've been to a few UK conventions and I don't think I've ever seen one come.

I think Hasbro UK said (second hand information so it might not be right) that they don't get out of bed for less than 1000 attendees. A large Star Wars con might be able to pull in those sorts of numbers, but Transformers? Our biggest cons thus far have been about half that. The movie will certainly bring in some extra punters, but doubling attendance would probably be a bit optimistic. That said, I wouldn't fancy trying to fit 1000 folk in the Clarendon suites! It was mad enough there in '05 with 430 -Nick

I could take Hasbro UK. I'm ready. -Ralph I don't know. They may have an infinite energy bar.... so you might have to aim for a "ring out". Karl

The Power Rangers won't help Hasbro - they're Bandai through and through. However, Hasbro does have it hordes of My Little Ponies. (Little evil b******s.)

Nay- no Power Rangers for Hasbro. They do, however, have a veritable legion of Star Wars figures, vehicles, playsets and roleplay equipment, all the Marvel superheroes toys since the start of this year, and the self-proclaimed King of Action Figures: Buzz Lightyear. Oh yes- Hasbro makes the Toy Story stuff. Well, Buzz, Woody and ol' Spudhead, anyway.

If Hasbro were to attend AA, they might Monopolyse proceedings with their Operation. How would they K'nex to the fans? Should we Risk it?
